I can't decide if I like this thread (safety awareness) or just find it gross. :picard:

I'm actually amazed at the number of us sustaining serious injuries. Y'all be more careful now ya hear? :BrianK::pain:

I had a pretty bad wound in June 2014, some of you guys may remember me running my 064 into my shin. I got REALLY lucky...

That being said guy and gals, please keep the pics as tasteful as you can, as we've had a couple members grossed out pretty bad by this thread already. I'm going to keep the thread up because it serves as a good reminder to BE CAREFUL AND WEAR YOUR PPE.....not saying that it has been done here but make sure the pics you use are your own and not harvested off the net......random pics of grossness from other places in cyberspace aren't wanted.....lol

I have a pic of my husband. He was in the attic sweating profusely while installing the attic guard for the pipes. He bumped his head on the ceiling, a nail from shingles sticking out.......... He did not realize that it was blood, not sweat dripping :jaw:.

I had my Stihl Rollomatic 36" bar/chain combo hanging from a nail in the rafter out in my workshop.......stood up full-speed underneath it once and it laid my scalp open pretty good.....

Didn't hurt all that bad at first but WOW did I bleed.....

Make sure it, superglue, says non - toxic! some off brands from China are real bad for you!

I once was told "most people are accidents looking for a place to happen, you are the place they happen" Hence why family rules on cutting alone and PPE....

    Keep safe.. good reminder thread!

Yea and it's the little stuff we might overlook...

My optometrist said he could see the rust stains in my eyes where metal shavings went in and rusted and worked back out. IE: wear safety glasses when grinding anything! Even chain!!!

Neosporin works better near the mouth than super glue. Don't ask how I know (medical reasons, tightening skin and breathing throug mouth while sleeping).

I've got the usual sharpening scars on my fingers and knuckles but thankfully no other saw injuries. I do however have a few boots like this

I won't mind at all if the picture of my finger is removed from thread. I usually act before I think (you can tell by looking at my finger) and should of put in a picture of it more healed up and not getting fixed. Sorry if I grossed anyone out too much. That being said the worst thing about he whole deal is I had a promising career as a hand model and that went right out the window. BE CAREFUL GUYS!

I have a pic of the pad on my index finger looking similar, only a MUCH smaller area. I would have posted it if I had a pic. I think the new warning should be sufficient for those that do not want to see. If it was not a mod would have removed it already.

I can absolutely understand the need to moderate a thread and posts such as this. That said, having recently been the victim of a case of human stupidity (my own), I think the thread has a lot of merit.

I believe it is all too easy to forget that the items we tinker with processing and handling firewood and woodstoves will hurt / kill us the in the wink of an eye. It is just flat- out unforgiving. Let's face it, between the nasty tools used to process / move / store the firewood, and the burning of wood itself, it is a fairly <potentially> dangerous activity we are engaged in. In fact, I think the only real defense there is to causing harm, personal or to property, is extreme diligence and very careful operation of everything involved in heating with wood. So I think a thread like this, which shows regular, 'normal' folks getting hurt is a sort- of nice wake- up call to everyone that it accidents not only happen quickly and easily but that they can be devastating. I believe it is easy for all of us to listen to the horror stories third- hand and attribute them to 'idiots', 'incompetents' and so forth but really, it is some pretty experienced and able people getting "nicked" in the blink of an eye and not so easy to dismiss by saying 'that will not happen to ME'.

As a wise man once said, 'Fire: it makes a wonderful servant and a terrible master.'. I would expand that to chainsaws, splitters, hauling wood, stacking wood, etc., etc..

I have to ask- how did that turn out? Which finger was it and on which hand (dominant or secondary)?

I agree. I also find it curious that there are several kitchen knife accident posts (not involving a chainsaw or hatchet or splitting maul ) in this thread, which is a good reminder to everyone.
