It was a bit warm and extremely humid but I just felt like giving it a try. Too bad I forgot to take the thermacell because the skeeters were all over my back. I quit because of them but actually my leg was beginning to hurt anyway but I'll use the skeeters as an excuse. It's not much, but it is a start. Normally this would have been done by early or mid April. Such is life. Sometimes you get thrown a curve ball. The leg is still broken so it doesn't take much to stir things up a bit.

I have to say what little I did felt great. Not sure if I'll get more done right away or not but that's okay.

This looks away from the wood pile. You can see a pin oak on the right which is a twin and the small one in the center is also a pin oak as is the tiny one on the left. There is also a lot of soft maple in this area along with ash.

But, I agree with you on getting out and doing something Backwoods Savage- that's as good as rest... sometimes, as long as you don't aggravate what's healed

Well, sometimes you've got to balance the physical health with the psychological. This time of year especially, you can fall victim to Firewood Fever... :loco:  And if you don't scratch that itch, you're likely to wind up with an outbreak of new chainsaws... :saw::saw:

Nice work Dennis! Stack looks great - just take em one at time. Did you plant those oaks?

Slow and steady wins the race! This is such a great time to be outside in Michigan ... enjoy it as your body allows.

Looks like we are going to get some cooling over the next week or so ... perhaps you will get a chance to do a bit more with better temps and fewer skeeters.

    Good luck on opening day.
I've been having the subtle itch to split and stack after an hour or two in the 90's I lose motivation, some overcast low 80's this week planning on a bunch of firewood hoarding

I hope it is from a spot you can easily get to. Whatever you do, don't fall! You do have a cell phone, right?

I know for sure he has a cell but not always a signal. The onery one may have to haul the stubborn one back home after the hunt. She told us he had to stick around cause she didn't know what stack was ready to burn next.

Can ornery one demand he takes a boat air horn with him?

Personally I worry the whole time when WWW goes wood cutting or hunting by himself................
