Hey Joe, welcome aboard! Ready, set, GO! Just need some cool temps and all will be right with the world.
It's a Buck 74. I had a fireplace insert before and it was just not warm at all. On a cold winter it would barely keep the living room warm. I wanted something that would keep us warm and not cost us an arm and a leg. And yes it's still also still a little warm in Tennessee to fire it up yet.
I'm already gathering my wood for next season. I can see how this can be addicting. I really enjoy the firewood process.
I burned a few splits this morning to "get the chill off" was 41 when i got up this morning. is 51 and climbing now / stove is almost out, just burning down the few remaining coals
I thought about it, but with the sun out, figured the house would warm up soon enough. What a great day out.
Here is 9 cord, or 27 ricks cut in the winter of 2006-2007. It doesn't take up that much room overall. Of course that wood is all burned now but we stacked it in mid April and top covered it in late November of that year. I think we burned the last of it last year.
Well you are well on your way already with what you have stacked & you already have some for 16/17, get it CSS's & you only need to get 17/18 wood rounded up & you're there Yea, the 3 year plan is a good one. Few good benefits of 3 years worth of wood, After you get 3 years worth, then you only need to cut enough for one year from there on out. if you have a bad year getting wood, you have 2 years ti catch up. 3 year seasoned wood, whatever type wood you have, is dry & ready to go And it's amazing how well 3 year seasoned wood burns.
