Looks like I will order tonight. Got my raise.com vouchers ordered on my Discover card, together that is good for 7%. Will go through Ebates.com, for another 1%, still hoping for a 10% off coupon to top it.

Done. Cost $804 with tax and shipping, minus 5.9% from raise.com, 1% from ebates.com, and 1% from discover card. All-in somewhere around $750.

What's taking them so long! :ups::banana::dancer::rootintootin:

Next issue - what does "curbside" delivery mean? Drop it on the driveway? Would they maybe, if I ask nicely, go up my 1000 ft driveway, and drop it in front of the garage?

Will I have to plan to meet them?

    Got a tracking # yet?! :D
    Probably.
Have a pickup or trailer it could be loaded on?
If you are lucky they'll send out a truck with a power gate.

When mine came, the guy was nice enough to (with my help) use his pallet jack to pull the stove up the driveway. 40-50'. The rest was up to me.
    1000'? Yikes! Um, bribe him.
Yeah, normal curbside is just that......at the curb.

Bribing sounds like a good plan. I could also park my pickup in the road (there is no traffic to speak of) if they could put it into it.

Curbside usually is drop on sidewalk from main street. Does not usually include taking to garage. Dirt driveway and Cement driveway both have + and - 's

Dirt driveway that truck can back up into, you could get lucky and he will back up to your garage (but far enough away he cannot damage your power lines, gutters over garage etc...) Cement driveway, he might take pity on you and both of you can drag it up on a pallet jack if he has one (but likely not truck it up, cracked cement driveways is a liability, too many residential crooks out there sueing for damage not actually caused by that actual truck).

They will likely give you either morning or afternoon delivery that you will have to be there for and sign for (8-12, or 12-5). Also inspect it for any damage before you sign the bill of lading.

No sidewalk. The drive is dirt, with no risk of power lines or anything. But it is winding, he might be reluctant to back up it.

    Thanks for the pointers.

My driver called the night before to say when he'd be here.
Good tip from ww about inspecting.
I slipped the box top off, which was very easy, and took a look before he drove away.

A FedEx / UPS / U-Haul / Ryder type truck is easy to drive right up to the garage, and there is plenty of room to turn around in. We have never had anyone unable to easily get in for deliveries.

A big tractor-trailer would stay there forever if it drove in :p

Likely encased in a wood crate on a pallet. Look for dents/dings on cardboard over crate if there is one, then same with the actual wood on crate. If there is anything suspicious, ask the driver to wait while you pry off the boards to check the suspicious areas. Driver may be stressed on meeting his delivery sched, but this is not a small chunk of $$ for you to eat if there is damage.

Whether the crate is screw or nail, the boards should pry off with a cats claw/hammer/ other tools.

I have accepted (approved ) 100's of high end delivery over the years. It behooves you to inspect it before signing off on the drivers paperwork. NOT that the driver did anything wrong, but once you sign his form, you have signed away any and all liability of the handling of your stove, from the initial drop off at delivery company, and all the multiple forklifts that moved it, etc...

bushpilot ,there's just a cardboard box sitting on top. May need to slash shrinkwrap and some banding, then just lift it off. Same way they're packaged when you see them in HD.
Mine was in a tractor trailer, with a lift.

Thank you both. I will plan on meeting them at the road with tools and my pickup, hoping they will be able to somehow set it in the truck. Perhaps I'll have my engine hoist in the truck ...

Good idea. If there's a lift, he/she should be able to stop it at the tailgate level so you can slide it over. Wear a brace.:pain:It's kinda heavy.
Seriously though, unless they've changed packaging, a sharp knife/utility knife should do ya' until it gets back to the house. It should be strapped to the pallet (s).

If you have a trailer you might want to just take it down to the end of your drive and have the stove loaded on your trailer.
