Heading out tomorrow morning for archery (opened this past Saturday in PA). I've never hunted this early in the season. It's supposed to be in the low 50s by the time I get to my stand in the morning and is getting up into the mid-70s during the afternoon hours.

Saw these 2, small buck and doe, Thursday night while sitting in my stand on a scouting trip. Both were on the small side so I hope I don't see them again until next year lol.

The doe came right under my stand and nibbled on some of the leaves of a small bush.

Missed my chance on a 7 pointer about 2 hours ago. He snuck up from behind me and by the time I heard him he was right next to me w his head up. I couldn't move without spooking him then he went into the bushes. Ugh!

I've counted 8 deer between 7:45 and 9am. It's been quiet the past hour.

Hunting early season is nice because the deer are pretty stupid....around here they don't get too smart until the lead starts flying...then they go nocturnal. I don't like bugs, heat, or lack of visibility due to all the leaves though.

I simply just cannot get into hunting until the air gets crisp.......too damm warm for me yet!

Once the leaves start coming down and the frost covers the ground, I'll make it out to the woods...half of the reason I go out is for the sights and smells of the autumn woods.

I too like it cooler and fall leaves as well scotty. No leaves also are good for the visibility.

I have had my share of 90F degree hunting days!! No more for me.

I am close to R I and hunt there also. There season starts on the 15 of Sept. I walked the woods there Wed. and found three white oaks dropping like rain. The place was trashed but way to hot to hunt at 79 I can wait. :)

Not with the skeeters we have around here! I was fishing two nights ago in the Delaware and got just about the same number of bites on the pole as on my arms.

Great time in N Y last week pre-rut.Had over 24 deer pass thru the field edge we were on. Some bucks were still in groups others off by them selfs looking for love.

Had a really big 8 point that was pushing does around but never got closer than 90 yards. So settled on a 7 point that came close.
