LOFL. That picture makes me think of my dog when I was a kid. We had a mutt that was a mix between a beagle and something bigger, and he was the best dog. He would lay near the fire place when we had a fire going in it and it was so warm there you could not believe he would lay there. You could pet him and think how does he stay here. His fur was so warm. He would lay there and pant sometimes. He just loved it. I miss that dog. Still. He died when I was a fifteen year old kid. 30 years ago and I still remember him like it was yesterday. Great picture Loon.
Ice storm warning here now, Freezing rain since 6 o'clock, temp is 33 Right now. There is the potential for it to get really fu***d up around here, Power Outages east of here
Just woke up from a snooze in the recliner, we went over to a warning from an advisory, it's coming down pretty good but the power is still on. I think by the sounds of it we're getting sleet at the moment. http://northcountrynow.com/news/res...obilizing-850-electric-line-forestry-workers-
Just got up and we still have power Hasnt let up any and we musta got some snow mixed in. everything is pretty much touching the gound.
5:00am here 67f with a high of 75f today!!! With thunderstorms. This is crazy even for here! Not that it do sent happen but the fact that our low for Christmas eve is 27!!
Still have power here. But I don't like the sound of the wind. Not good with the ice on the trees. It is about 15° here. Colder than I expected. And it looks like a sleet coming down.? Burning Ash with a little Cherry mixed in there.
Hard to believe how cold it is there and we're only 300 miles apart! Hope you don't lose power because that's a real game changer! Came downstairs at 6:30 AM and it went up to 59 degrees here! Craziest start to winter that I can recall.. Hang in there gasman and all other affected by this storm! Ray
Ice yesterday then finally turned to snow around 10 pm last night. Ended up with a couple of inches of the white stuff.
We are still good here. And the precipitation has stopped for the mean time. Nothing from woodlands yet though. He may have lost power.
Yesterday afternoon the county issued a travel ban on all unnecessary travel. You would not believe the number of people still out on the roads. (I see them while working.) Have to go shopping!
Gas, you are so right. Shopping has become the number one past time, and nothing wil stand in their way! When we get a state of emergency declared, that's when everyone goes out driving to test their AWD or 4WD. They just don't get it.
We lost power between 3:30 We lost it three or four times since yesterday, the chit coming down in the woods was crazy, between the ice and the pine limbs they were like bombs. We had some wind this morning (thought we would be in trouble) but it quit. At 6:30 this morning it was sleeting horizontal, what saved us was it got colder than they expected, same in Massena, NY.
All is good so far NortheastAl. If we get another period of freezing rain with wind, that will be very bad for this area.
Yes. That is what I was thinking. I was surprised at the thermometer this morning. But really glad we still had power and the house and the camp! I drove back the camp rode in my 4WD Truck and it was having a little difficulty. I had plowed the road and since then it had collected a good amount of freezing rain and then on top of that is all the other mess. Combination of sleet and a snow that is like crystalized. 3 inches or so of it. Very slippery stuff. Just right for making bad traction. Glad to hear you have power now woodlands. And hope you don't get anymore prec. I spoke to soon earlier. It had quit. Then about 10 minutes later it started raining again. Now it has stopped.
That's the same weather we've had, the NOAA weather channel on our scanner had us going to 40 yesterday, it never went over 32. They have us having the same weather with Saranac Lake & Cranberry, 10 miles south of here has that same weather, we're more inline with Potsdam, Your Area & Massena. All the sleet that came down makes it tough going, plowing this chit will be tougher. One guy stopped plowing with his truck because it was so heavy, went to his garage to grab his Bota.
Just got a blip in the power zap but that was it. Good you and Savage are back up and running.. Finished thawing out the vehicles earlier and they are good and covered again Supposed to stop sometime tonite i guess?
Glad you kept power. We spent a good 20-30 minutes getting into our vehicles, we had over an inch of ice with sleet on top of that. I take it that big tree is still up.
