Giz earned her keep yesterday. The shop was starting to go green with the smell of a dead animal under the bench area. Giz came out and went to work under the bench first, tail going 100 mph... nope, back toward the end and the saws. Had a sheet over em and a small metal bucket was near them too. She started going nuts right on top of the saws. Pulled everything off and there was a very dead chipmunk. Got Giz back in the house before she had it in her mouth. Good thing... it was full of maggots? chowing down. Got it down in the woods fast... man did it wreak. Looked like a young whippersnapper... wonder what killed it? Half of his tail and butt were black and most of the fur was gone there too. He'd seen better days.

WS... reminds me of the ole story bout' the hawk swoopin' down and scooping up a frog whole and then flying way up in the sky. Frog sticks his head outa the hawk's butt and says "Wow... hey hawk, how high are we"... hawk says "about 10,000 feet"... frog says, "you wouldn't chit me would ya"... ;)

:hair: pizzed!! Found a mummified young dog under the ancient shed today (4-9 months old pup is my guess, will try to check teeth tomorrow). Still on chain/collar. I heard stories of when this house was rented out, of dozens of small pets (mop dogs and cats) that were left inside this home for weeks at a time during the depths of winter while the renters went to town. No water, no food, no heat, or toilet. I did not hear any stories about larger dogs chained out back in the elements. :headbang:

    Those stories broke my heart...

This newly developed story of a neglected dead dog makes me angry...

Larry confirmed my thoughts on calling some authorities for animal abuse/neglect which I will do. I am calling and sending pics on Monday. My fear is nothing will be done since they have been gone for a few years now.... I pray that karma gives them back with a vengance what they deserve for letting this precious life die by herself under an ancient shed.

We are planning to put the girl in a final resting place tomorrow.

I will start with the Sheriff that is also ACO and go from there (no animal control officers here).

Is it ok to bury her here? Or should I take her somewhere for cremation? I will wait to hear from the Sheriff incase they need to see her.

    Wow, wildwest!

    That's very sad indeed.

I can't like that post, except that you'll be giving her a proper resting place.

Whoever allowed that will definitely get bad karma back tenfold for that.

I know what you mean in that department, let me tell you.

my mom and dad had a Pomeranian, it was a girl dog named Sandy. she had a heart murmur and when she finally passed away, I thought my dad was going to lose his ever loving mind. :(

he cried like a baby, got sick and threw up. it was crazy, they hint around every now and again that wanted to get another dog and I begged them, don't get another dog. You guys are too old and won't be able to take care of it and it'll fall on me.

you get attached 'em and there like your kids. you know one of them dies, you go to pieces you know.

that's why I don't want to own another dog.

Yeah, it sucks. It's the worst part of having a dog, but, it goes with the territory.

However, the pluses far outweigh those last few moments of their lives.

Dogs give non judging love. They greet you at the door when you come home from work. They don't care of you had a crappy day, they just want to make you happy. If they can't, they commiserate with you.

I've got one dog at each end of their lives here, and one in the middle. I've got a 14 wk old English lab, a 5 yr old American lab, and a 14 yr old American Brittany.

Sadly the Britt isn't doing well, took a real turn for the worse, and it appears next week I'll have to take her in. She had a vet visit 2 weeks ago, and she was diagnosed with a tumor in her abdomen, most likely cancer. She's on tramadyl, to keep her pain free, but this is just temporary, as I know at some point she'll not be happy.

Can you feel a lump on your oldest Horkn?

I am asking as I just found one the size of a quarter on Emma's abdomen yesterday and not sure what the hell is going on? :zip:
    Hoping fatty tissue.

Hope things go well with the Brittany.

That's an awesome video! Ironically someone won't like what he's doing and complain, then he'll have to stop! :picard: Lets hope he doesn't live in a liberal neighborhood!

"Is it ok to bury her here?" ... I bet DH can find a nice spot out by the back fence, lookin' at the mountains, to lay her down...
