Here are some pictures of the ice mess that came through yesterday. The tree's are weighted down big time, when I went for my walk to take pictures tree's were popping and snapping everywhere. I've lost a bunch of limbs but so far most of the stuff is standing upright. If we get any wind that amounts to anything things are gonna get ugly real fast!
Like the pictures but not the conditions you are living in. It looks so pretty but can be so deadly quickly.
Most of the pictures are from around the house, one picture of the brook. Once it's safe to enter the woods I'll have more. I think Tupper Lake which is south of us had rain with a big melt, that is one of the reasons the brook is like that.
Young man just came to the door and offered to sand the driveway and walk for $25. Let's hope I don't need that again during this storm. Sanding is better than falling.
Just watched the weather report for this area, the bad news; we won't have any temps above freezing (ice stays) any wind and we might be in trouble, the good news; we don't have any storm systems coming in through Friday. We're still getting a fine freezing rain, I'm thinking we'll lose power again tonight. The better news, the wife did a chit load of baking once the power came on.
Here's a couple from my yard. That flowering plum has had a rough life. Not sure how it hasn't fallen completely over yet. Power was off at 3 am, back on at 5 pm, and went back off at 7:15 pm. Got dishes done and a shower while the power was back on.

Last time there were limbs broken off like that here, it went on for a week. You could hear the limbs snapping all day and night. When it was over, this place looked like a bomb had gone off. Tree down every where. Those left standing looked like a tornado had torn off all the limbs and left splintered tops. The trees that survived grew back this thick bushy growths that looked like chia pets. That was about 15 years ago. When the leaves fall, you can still see the damage done.
The power flickered a few times, then the lights got dim. I killed the breakers for the sensitive stuff. Measured 54V at my outlets before it went off completely. I'd guess another branch came down somewhere. We had about a quarter inch Thursday night and another quarter inch or so last night. It never got above freezing to melt it off. It doesn't sound like we'll get above freezing for the rest of this year. Lots of folks in the area have it worse. I have three sources of heat, four if you count the oil burner. I won't be cold tonight.

Somehow I never lost power. Mom, sister, and grandparents all lost power. They are only 5 miles away, and all in different directions from me. Weird how I'm in the middle of everybody, and was the only one juiced up.
