For much of the U.S., the 2016 Almanac says that a super cold winter is on tap—with below-average winter temperatures. Bundle up!

Freezing tempeatures will be especially pronounced along most of the Atlantic seaboard and in the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, and southwestern states.
The Northeast, Ohio Valley, northern Plains, and Pacific Northwest should brace for a slew of snow.
“Super cold is coming,” says our Almanac editor Janice Stillman, but also the good news is that areas with record-shattering snow last winter—like Boston—won’t have to deal with quite so many flakes.”

I know. Low 70's predicted Mon and Tues. for Clayton Lake. We're going to be a little northwest of there just off the St. John River.

 

Weather men getting it right, well sometimes, at least a few days anyway. Most of all, they are a very entertaining group.

 

Only job I know of where you can be right 50% of the time and people think you're doing a good job.

... Growing season has ended for additional portions of northern Maine...

In addition to Northwest Aroostook... northern Somerset and northern
Piscataquis counties... the growing season has also ended for northeast
Aroostook... southeast Aroostook... northern Penobscot and central
Piscataquis counties. Temperatures dropped into the lower 30s this
morning in these additional northern Maine areas at many locations
with a few locales dropping below freezing... effectively ending the
growing season there.

For those who have protected outdoor gardens against the last two prior
frost/freeze nights over the areas where the frost/freeze headlines will
no longer be issued... please monitor for frost/freeze wording contained
in the forecast... which we will continue until the program expires for
the remainder of east central and all of downeast Maine. This will be
the case tonight across northern portions of the region.
