I did/ will get a $5,000 tax credit that will get spread out over time. I will get back to you on the length of time and other particulars. There is a unit on the roof that joins the 2 arrays I have together.
I didn't want to buy a system. I have enough crap to fix, paint, mow, stain, brush, blow, ( snow smoke), shovel, etc, etc, I want them to fix and update the system. It behooves them to keep my system rockin and rollin.

I was curious how that was going to work out. I sure there are more than one or two on here that have the same number of things they have to take care of and one more isn't in the cards for several of us. I don't do roofs any more, nor tall ladders.

You're not an all electric house ?? then hot water and cooking must be from another energy source ? so I can see why the numbers won't work for you .

For Sept I am running about 30 kwh per day. I doubt that will last when the cold arrives.

We have averaged 17kwh per day for the last 12 months, at less than 7 cents per kwh. The average bill is a little over $50, with $20 of that being taxes and fees. Solar would make no sense for us.

All electric house, including the usual appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, water heater, fridge, freezer, etc.), but wood heat only and no air conditioning. Just the two of us at home.

My hot water is from the boiler, my stove is electric, but the clothes dryer is the biggest juice sucker.

Clothes dryers suck heated air through them and dump it outside, the air is heated by electricity or gas, that heated air and likely room air as well gets sucked through the clothes and blown out the vent a total waste I did some playing around and found that the gentle low heat moisture sensing drying uses the least juice but still it is our biggest user of juice. We also run an A/C unit in the great room when conditions warrant. Most of the lighting in the house is LED, a few CFL's. and 5 incandescent rarely used units.

You made a mistook there, my 11 year going on 12 averages around 26. We have 1 car and it spends most of its time in the yard. Maybe the next time I'm in it I'll get a mileage reading. Under 10K per year I'm sure.

I had a 55 mile each way commute back in my mid 20s. So i did what any sensible young man would do- i bought a bmw m3. best stupidest thing i've ever done :)

With oil so cheap again right now, mpg and use of the oil pig, and alternative replacements just don't really add up in the wallet. It's more about saving the planet. Well, I'm pretty sure al queda/isis/russia/syria/insert someother group here/ will nuke the world soon enough anyway so what's the point?
