I've lived by my neighbor for years, and did not know he ran a tree service business on the side. Well, after talking for a while, he said he would be happy to drop off for me as opposed to paying to dispose of it! So my first free score is a load of ash. I split one piece, and measured in three places with the mm. It's reading about 32%. This is almost a cord by the looks of it? Not sure, I'm not good at that game yet, lol. He did all the cutting shown on his job site (although I offered to do all cutting) and dropped it off in my yard as shown! What a blessing to know good people.

Nice score Brad! Your fortunate to have a good neighbor like that one.... Doesn't hurt that he does tree service work either!!

Looks close to a cord to me, might be a little shy. If it were me I would be splitting that up and season it for a year or two. Did you burn that stove yet?

Tree services are a great way to source wood if they are delivering. Looks like he cut them at consistent lengths which is quite nice.

The word of the mouth has gotten me quite a few loads. Its easier for the little guy to dispose of them that way than to pay to dump it. So its a win win situation. :handshake: And beer  or a gift card goes a long ways to keep your address fresh in their mind...:D

This is great Brad! It is amazing how many times a neighbor or someone else we know has some side business that we don't know about. It is a good thing you got to talking to him as he will save you dollars and you will save him some too.

At 32%, that stuff has not been hit yet by the ash borer as that is close to what a live ash will read most times. Get it split as soon as possible and stacked in the wind. But don't listen to the folks who say you can cut ash and burn it right away. That 32% tells the story. It will be ready by next year though.
