On the other hand, they are prioritizing the fine tuning of this stove to prepare for, meet and exceed not only the existing EPA and other government regulations, but to also position themselves for future advances. So, my guess would be that as attractive as interchangeability may be, if there was a need to make catalyst modifications to improve the burn of this stove there wouldn't be hesitation to do so.

Engineering is a world of trade-offs, but when you hear the Woodstock team talk about the Franklin, they talk about the Franklin as being the innovative vehicle to future of wood burning. The more I think about this subject I would not be surprised to see Woodstock working closely with their Cat vendors to make investments and improvements to get better internal CAT performance as well. That might be a key area of opportunity for better burns in the future.

Anyone have some updates on this stove? They seem to be pretty tight lipped.

Yeah really, I'd love to see it. I do know that they were working on a HUGE steel stove, I saw that one on Youtube. Is this the one ya'll are talking about or is this a different one?

Not a whole lot being done on it yet so it may be a while before it is introduced. They are almost swamped with orders for the regular stoves and need to keep on top of that.

I think a number of us here were expecting something out much sooner. They gave us too much New Franklin press and got us burning hot only to turn it way down and go into a long slow burn ... Looking forward to when it goes into beta and the reports start getting out.

Sometimes one can rush things a bit too much and end up with problems. I'd rather see them take their time and make certain all is right.

I've been promising myself to take a ride up and talk to a few of the folks up there. Getting new rubber on the Harley next week so I'll try to get a fall foliage/Woodstock visit on the calendar real soon.

I've been dragging my feet on a stove for the 'new' house. Playing the used market for now, and/or waiting for this one for next winter. I hope it's ready for next winter.

I think the wings are pretty darn cool. Would be a nice look for my 1920s house.

Would be super cool if they could come up with a stove that required only ember protection. Floor space is at a premium here, and a sheet of thin steel would be ideal for a hearth.

I live in Northern Ma, just south of Lebanon by about 90 miles. I've made friends with Jaime, Tom, Lorin and others over the last few years and have a brought a few friends up who have bought stoves. I've also got friends to say hi to at Granite State HD and the 4Aces Diner. So it's a nice ride up through New Hampshie country side using route 12A and then I usually cross over into Vermont and take either Rt 5 or Rt 1oo home. ..hey, someone's gotta do it!

That is the smaller stove they are working on, I was up there last winter and saw it in person. It is significantly smaller than the IS.

I guess I can wait another year but it would be nice if they had an update with some dimensions and size of this stove. A 2-2.5cu ft firebox would be nice upgrade for me if I can make it fit my hearth.

Called WS to ask a few questions and while I could get nothing specific regarding this new stove (I keep trying), I was told that they are trying to have 12 beta units in the field for testing this burning season.

Getting beta stoves out for testing this season has been their goal, if it's anything like the testing they did for the IS, they will roll out slowly, and most likely to a couple internal employee testers first before external testers.
