Tunbridge Fair in VT. The sign said it was made at the Clark Foundry in Rumford, ME circa the 1940's. Kind of cool to see how they used to make the old splitters. Backwoods Savage, can't remember if you like vertical or horizontal, but it looks like this one's only got one direction.

He fumbled one of them right after I stopped recording, so I got my kids out of there before they might see something that wouldn't be pretty. :jaw:

Canadian border VT has probably traveled down for the only fair in VT that bills itself as a "world's fair." Good times with the kids.

Sort of a sad excuse for a log splitter. Notice he has some very short logs there too. That would not do much good with something like elm.

Yup Dennis, he had a knotty piece that he had to give up on and toss to the side. You can see why hydraulics ended up eclipsing this type.

I've seen others a bit more adept at using that splitter make it look more productive. Great fair, but didn't make it there this year. I think the oxen in my avatar made a showing at Tunbridge, many years ago.
