Managed to get to the woods today. Dropped the wife at work, then took a 4 minute drive. This load is all dead/down Oak, and mostly barkless, kinda' like that weird dog. A few rounds have some punk, but I cut it anyway. I like this stuff, since it'll dry a bit faster than a fresh cut tree. I've mentioned this before, but there's so much of this down or dead, I don't think I'll ever get done cutting here for myself and sis-in-law. The saw is on that stump as a marker. I walked the rounds back to the Jeep. This leaner started out right in front of where I was standing, leaning on the tree to the left. I cut that dang tree 4 times before it came out of there, then it proceeded to get hung up in a small Maple to the right. It's still there. And here's the result of my efforts. I must have spent 45 minutes walking rounds back to the Jeep. I couldn't get any farther in than I did, soooooo...
My wife, and kids help out when we have the big move of the year. Fall time around middle to end of October. I have not moved it in yet. Don't see any need to. We have been having some absolutely beautiful weather. I wish I had a couple of weeks off right now. Man could I get some friggin work done. Oh well. Like my neighbor use to say. That's okay. It will be there for you tomorrow. He was right. No big deal. You can always pick it up where you left off last.
Wife and I had a bunch of running to do today, but I just came in from getting this Oak s/s. Pulled a small load of Pine up to the shed too. She wanted to replant some flowers, so I helped with that. She'll be gone for a good chunk of the day tomorrow, so I plan to finish filling the shed with the Maple and Oak. Bologna sammich and some chips, and I'm gooder for a while.
Just came in and didn't quite get the shed full, but I did get some other wood c/s/s, so a trade off. Good day. If the weather holds, in the morning I can get the Oak done. Then, I think I'm gooder for this winter. I'll need to make a bunch of trips to the cutting floor for more Oak. I'd like to get about 2.5 more cord of that before it gets all snowy and tough to get in there.
Dave, I hope you've had as nice of weather as we have. Not good for hunting but still seems sort of good to have 70's for this long in October. I think this is the end of it though. Look for cooler next week.
Oh yeah Dave, but it's not happening for a bit. The tractor does a great job at home, but this is my sis-in-law's place and I don't want to trailer it there. Her tractor is being worked on right now, so that'll be my workhorse soon....I hope, when I'm over there.
Dennis, I noticed the cooldown coming. Double edged sword, eh? Even w/o a new stove, I'm still looking forward to burning, but the warmer weather's been nice too.
Nice here also, but I never seem to get much of my "round 'to it" list taken care of. It just grows and grows. Must be all those "honey do's" !
