40° last night, up to 55 today , dropped to 50 ° & no sun. Raining , windy & just felt cold & I heard the furnace kick on. So.............. The birch bark lite off quick, no kindling or fire starter needed My 1st fire of the 15/16 burn season: Could be another 7 month burn season
We saw snow on the mountain tops in Denali last week. Then came home to mid and upper 80's. I like your weather better!
I agree, 80° would be nice, much above that & Alaskans start to melt. LOL Last week was some awesome weather for site seeing , raining & 50° now. All in all a good trip ?
No fires here....supposed to hit 90 on Labor day and we are having the last pool get together on Sunday before I close it up next week. It is just around the corner though I know.
We were in the 60s here and a long day of stormy rain. So a good excuse (like I need any) to startup too. Tried a new batch of cherry, a slow starter but good coal and heat output. But too good for shoulder season. I really like your Birch Bogydave.
We are getting close with overnight lows in the 40's and this morning when I got up house was at 66 I think we have a few weeks left before shoulder season starts.
Look at that clean looking stove Bogy! I need to clean my stove and chimney. Need to get ready for the season but probably no fire here till 2-3 week of october...maybe first of november?
I really want to get my stove running if only to drive the dampness out. I've been known to run the stove and have some windows open. I know it doesn't make sense, but it works for me, even if it is all in my head.
I had a Fire last night, outside temp of 49*, ( it is the only heat I have) I threw 3 small splits on to take off the chill. Next thing I know its up to temp so I engaged the cat at about 10;00pm, Got up at 3 and looked, cat was still 1000* and about 1/8 of the wood left. I'm impressed, first time I ever engaged a Cat
Cool to watch the snow line come down. I face Mt. Rainier and the snow recedes a lot and looks dirty but doesn't go away.
Weather says snow level down to 3,000 feet. Won't be long now. Been raining for 5 days, still raining. Betting, when / if we seethet mts again, they'll be a lot whiter
