Thought about it but I'll have that amount and more coming in this fall winter Just to much to try and cover However there is a slant where the wood is sitting and a constant breeze as well with unless it's raining or cloudy 8 plus hours af sun hitting it
Woodrat, I know many don't cover and get along okay and I have no problem with that. However, in our experiment, we found that although the wood will dry fine and will burn fine, if you top cover, the wood will be much better and you'll get much more heat from it thereby saving you some hard labor. I know it was an eye opener for me the last time we experimented with it.
not really sure to be honest I hope to use very little if any this year It's stacked in the order it was cut and split so wood on the far end is over a year of seasoning It's all ash and some but little maple that's stacked The loose stiff and logs are maple and locust. And there is about Ten rounds of walnut sitting there too
I did attempt to top cover one row last year I used some roofing paper and it seemed like I just could not keep it on there I may try to do it again im not against top covering I like you believe it has its benefits I just haven't quite figured out how I'm going to do it lol

I do however make a attempt to put bark up on the lady top three rows I'm going to revisit the top covering this year I think
You cant see in the pictures but I used a log on one end as a brace for the end of the stacks when the log ran out I used a tower to brace the end with and it worked out well I swear and I don't know how they have stayed standing but my stacks give the tower of Pisa a run for its money lol

I usually do my amounts in truck loads and honestly I always plan 24 truck loads regardless if I use them or not If I use them then I know I need that amount back if I don't then it's more for next season and another 24 is added on
Lookin good Rat.....don't know what size truck you have but an 8ft bed stacked in is close to 1/2 cord.
I measure wood amounts by trailer load as well. I've gotten pretty good at guesstimating how much I've got on there. Mine will hold around 1/3 cord if it's stacked roughly 2' high. That's quite the concrete pad - did there used to be a building there? Seems like it would make a great place for a shed! Nice sunny spot too! That pic was looking towards the north right?
