Locust and white oak from Sundays truckload done-last available bay-all else goes up bottom on pallets for '17-18
MC 32-37%, how is locust about drying? I've heard you can almost burn it wet like ash, though of course I'm in no hurry-I've also started in addition to marking month/yr S/S, but also the MC at that time on a few butts, cause of course I'm the ashwatcher....
One things for sure, Ash- you can leave that locust for YEARS beyond plenty of other farwood, and it only gets bettah! IDK specific dry times for BL, but you know what you've got there for future comparison, so maybe report back at a lata date on its drying progression?
Will do Sir Eric---I dont plan on burning it until '16-17 so maybe I will report it at 6 mos? Hope you and all are well.

We may just have to do that-sorry to hear about your back-I empathize, I have 2 tears in rotator cuff and 1 in my labrum, right shoulder---trying to put off surgery til Jan----orthopedic problems suck, especially with neuro involvement-and we know you're not real sound anyway....
Scratcher, that is one very impressive stack of locust and oak! Nice and neat, well stocked and that wood shed is the bomb! Are you going to fill that last section? I'm no locust expert by any means, but what I've heard, it improves with the age for sure. I cut my first locust this year, and am looking forward to burning it..... It will be interesting, as all I've heard it burns best mixing it with other wood because is so dense...

Thanks Fanatical1, dont expect to fill the last bay this year-it holds kindling, fire-pit, archery target and sharpening desk-earlier pics in this series shows my wood stacked on pallets up the bottom so the 3-4 cord I have left to S/S will go up there and be for '16-17-18'. This is my first experience with locust as well, I have plenty of it and I've heard much the same thing-let's track our experiences with it? What amazed me is that black locust is also called yellow locust which I found ironic in that the first thing I noticed was how yellow the saw dust was when cutting and then how it glowed yellow upon being split
Ashwatcher- This is true about a fresh split of locust. Yeller for sure! Or do y'all say, "yallow?" or "yaller?" Just curious.
