Some of you have hinted at a new Doug Fir pellet coming to the Northeast. It's called Olympus pellets and some think it's the best Doug Fir on the market. Out in Washington State many of the dealers have switched from Bear Mountain to this pellet. It should be at a very competitive price for Doug Fir, hopefully close to Blazers pricing, depending on a dealers location. Notice the ash content, it's very low. In order to add to/or detract from the discussion I'm going to post the test results from several other softwood pellets. You guys make the decision if one is better than the other. One of the pellets is very well known in the Northeast but the other 2 are making great headway. IMHO they are all excellent and pretty close in test results. The other 3 are lacrete, north country and Platinum ( not Okie). Hope this helps!

Only 0.11% ash is really low on those Olympus. One of the lowest I have seen.

Thanks for sharing, Some think its taboo to share these!!

Really...name me 3 that have switched.....beside Henry McManus who I have not sold in over 2 years and he never carried my Douglas Fir or any other Fir pellet back then....

Ok....time for some open discloser if you are going to come on here and put on a blatant sales pitch......who are you?....you have to be a pellet sales man to get the reports (I think you owe the forum at least that much.....and if you are going to put reports out there....2 year old tests don't really cut it...something more current is more believable.)

As far as I know...Olympus is only being stocked currently by Henry McManus in NH (I could be wrong on this...but if it is more, it's not many more) and Okanagan Douglas Fir (Bear Mtn) are carried by over 50 dealers in NE...that actually stock the stuff on a regular basis... Nothing wrong with Olympus, good specs...but damm few dealers carry it and don't think you have much if any volume coming...so your post is nothing more than a troll for interest from any dealers that might visit this page... hell even I'm not that blatant about selling my product and I have certainly caught hell on here for much less.....

LaCrete is a very good pellet and Skana Forest Product probably supplies about 5 times the amount of dealers you do in NE.... North Country...another very good pellet...but they don't make very much and it can be hit or miss if there are some available.... Platinum (the other Platinum’s...not Okies) are even less available.....

The reason the Okies Douglas Fir are popular is they simply are the very best pellets available ....anywhere....period. They are the bar that ALL Douglas Fir pellets are measured against....but you already know that .....Blazers/Hot Shots, Pack Saddle, Clean Fire, Olympus, North Idaho, WOW and the list goes on and on....there just isn't a better pellet. These all just fine pellets....but there can only be a #1 and that is ours....if it was yours or any any other, they too would command the higher price, but when you don't have the goods, you defer to a lower price which is what most products do if they aren't the best....

2 things I have learned and learned the hard way in the wood pellet or even the wholesale lumber business (which is where you came from as well) is #1 you have to have a consistent quality and #2 and this is especially true in the pellet industry in New England….. is consistent supply.....You certainly don't have #2......you don't have several dozens of cars committed to having millions of dollars of pellets available so dealers aren't running out in Feb/March or really anytime ....You haven't signed large volume contracts to protect that supply and you certainly don't have the coverage of any of your brands mentioned above or invested the time, infrastructures, commitment, money or sweat that has gone into making our brand what it is today in NE and elsewhere.....but then again, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know...........right Alex????......

Typically the suppliers ask that we don't post results, so its not taboo...just respecting their wishes......then again, great pellets don't have to depend on a 3rd party report to establish themselves as great .....

Surely there are 3 more in the United States that switched to Olympus..
I think the poster mentioned Washington. Not New Hampster.
    I agree. But.
I think sometime, something is better than nothing.
Especially if the products are consistent.
But none are 100% year to year.
    There are always slight variations.
Which is why here on forums, you always read someone
saying they had good luck with brand X one year, but did not the next.
    Or vice versa.
Happens to the best of them... even yours.

    Everyone has to start someplace..

    Everyone has to start someplace.

Not a lot of difference between hawking a product to dealers, or consumers like most members here..
both are free plugs IMO. No difference.
Both show pride and confidence in their products.
Again, I just don't see any relevance here. So if you are bigger? Who cares, here?
Number of tons produced/sold, is no indication of who's are best.. or worse.
Green Supremes probly outsell everything around here..
Let's talk about pellets, in general, and heating with them.
Not who the biggest dog on the block is.

    Okay... you are top dog.
Now let's just get back to talking about which pellets we like or dislike,
and where the best deals are, and how many we burn, yada.. yada. yada...

    Full Disclosure follows!
I have been helping McManus here in New Hampshire for nearly 8 years.
I do all of his various web work, as well as other stuff as needed.
I am a retired guy. I get paid the same whether we sell 2 tons, or 20,000.
    Nada.
I got 2 ton of pellets last year. He wouldn't let me pay for them.
We have been friends for a long, long, time.
There probly aren't more than 2-3 people on this list that are in our area.
I'm certainly not trying to bolster sales.
He is a small local dealer. With a good local following.
3 miles from Lowe's and Home Depot.
We do not knock anyone's products, we let ours speak for themselves.
And yes we do sell Olympus, and La Crete.
As well as LG products. And yes Okies at one time.
We think all of our products are as good as any in the same price range.
    And so are Doug's.
We are actually close on pricing, these days, to a lot of the BBS products,
that many just do not care for.
Just so people know. I'm not trying to hide anything, or prove anything.
I really don't have a dog in this fight.

I think everyone needs to take a breather.

Douglas Middleton pelletguy Pete Zahria. You are all good people with good intentions. We understand there is a business to run behind the scenes. :)

We are all here for a common ground...

Sales here won't help anyone. We are a very small site that has FIREWOOD in our name. So our search for pellets is pretty small. Although we are gaining ground.

With that said.. I can't wait to try this first bag of Lacrete's. ;) It's the first bag of DF that I have had the pleasure of testing (no I won't be doing a public review). I wish there was more in our area. I know Ohio is not a huge Market. But some of us would prefer quality over quantity.

I admit....I was wrong ...he did say WA state not New England....

Say Hi to Henry for me....like that man.....he and one other dealer in VT....if I could go back in time and have a redo on their accounts ...I would....both I regret how they turned out...but life doesn't work that way...but give him my best.......

I wasn't calling you out....but your supplier ...I have been very open about who I am and what I do....Alex needs to do the same as a supplier IMHO....and if he takes a swing at my product, however back handed it might be, don't be surprised if I swing back...I'm bad about things like that....
