Nope, we don't. I had pine trees at my last home of 21 years, so had to do pine cone patrol, but no deciduous trees. Same here, a few small caraganas and a russian olive. I do miss summer shade though.

Stopped at Slaters pellets in Cairo on my way back down and picked up 5 bags of Blazers. Always wanted to try them and now I will. Also picked up a few bags of Ambiance in Lake George.

Slaters has a pretty nice setup. 2300 tons in warehouses. He has some nice stuff, Blazers, Hammers, Easy Blaze, all 3 Okanagans, Currans and Bio bricks. Nice truck and trailer and can deliver 12 tons at a time. Maybe next year I will get some friends together and see if a truckload would be affordable. Prices are out of my range for the good stuff this year, but I'm gonna try some and see if I can make sense of the high priced spreads with our new stove.

I'm gonna wait until it gets cold and I can get a week of burn time with them to see how clean the pot stays. And I will let you know !!

It is going to be hard to find that out. With a good stove, they burn about anything automatically. About the only difference y0u might see is the amount of ash or the amount your glass gets dirty.

Installed a new distribution blower today. The old one was making funny noises. $82 at Grainger.

Agreed Savemoney. With my old USstove ash and clinkers meant nothing to me because I had manual start, an agitator and almost infinite air adjustments. It was always about getting heat out of the stove with a poorly designed heat exchanger and the pellets were a big part of the equation.

Now the new stove has a great heat exchanger that blasts the heat, however its finicky about restarting when there is ash in the burnpot. A few times last year the stove did not restart, the igniter insulated by ash, causing wifey to come home to an oil fired 62 deg. house. :heidi: (and also a recall by Quadrafire)
So if I can run a better pellet that won't leave the insulating ash and crap it will make our lives easier and be worth a little extra money being spent.
I think. Maybe. We'll see. :sherlock:
