Had a small fire last night but we'll give the stove a break probably until Sunday evening if the weather man is anywhere close to right. I'll make sure the wood rack gets topped off today.

Same weather here LP.. Like your weather station with backlighting! BTW it needs new batteries ;) .. I have a few weather gadgets here and love all of them but no backlighting! I would like an AC powered that's lit when the lights are low..

Funny Ray, when I posted that picture I thought someone will say something about that low battery indicator. :) I am not sure what is going on there, I tried putting new batteries in about a week ago and the indicator stayed in the same spot so I put the old ones back in. Actually I had a new 8pack of duracells and tried them all, same outcome.

Thanks Ray....I never gave the remote sensor a second thought. I'm glad you are watching out for me even if you are a bit crazy.

New batteries in the sensor Ray, no change. New batteries in the inside unit, all fixed. It must have needed new ones all around. Now I better go make sure the air conditioners are ready to run.

Fellas, it's totally crazy weather, that's for sure......I've been burning occasional loads here and there to keep the chill, letting each fire go down to only a small handful of coals before putting a small load back in.

Burning mostly some junky red maple (from a standing dead I cut for a friend of mine over the summer) and some blue spruce, that stuff lights off quickly and dies off fairly fast, perfect for weather like this. Honestly, the downpours we are getting are what is depressing. We got a pile of rain earlier, now its foggy as all get-out. I had planned on splitting wood today, but with the rain (and the flu bug I seem to have contracted) I ain't going out and getting wet. I still have one more large load of wood to get from the monster oak job we have been working on since Thanksgiving weekend, 13 huge trees in all.......then a final clean-up and we'll be done at that place. The woman who owns the property was very grateful of the job we did, so much so that she's scheduled a HUGE red oak to come down in the spring......and it's right against her house, so it's gonna be a technical (but doable) job.

Anyways, stay dry fellas and don't fret......more cold will be here soon enough.

Ray no matter how hard we try to stay healthy, someone in our house seems to get sick for Christmas. One year, all the kids were sick and my wife and I felt HORRIBLE......we made the best of it, but still, that was horrible for them.....

Big turkey dinner on Christmas Eve for us, lots of family coming to the house so I'll be chugging fresh orange juice and eating lots of oranges from now til then!!

I'll let the stove go out about the time the tomatoes are ready to be planted. Until then we burn 24/7.
