Started having trouble with the deadbolt on the front door. Once unlocked it would be stuck there until it was messed with-its the only lock on the door and its 15 years old. Took it apart and all looks OK, but it may be the latch itself.

I couldnt find a replacement latch so I figured I would just replace the lock with another Schlage as this one has worked so smoothly for so long. This is the one I bought but I am not impressed with the new innards.

Its probably as close as I will get to matching the original.

Schlage Single Cylinder Satin Nickel Deadbolt-B60N 619 - The Home Depot

Hard to believe this is a Grade I deadbolt.

It works but doesnt appear as well made as the previous. I just found the exact latch replacement from my original online at Lowes for 9 bucks. I may try that and return the new one but if it is not the latch I run the risk of the old one jamming in locked position.

Anyone have luck or with newer locks and is Schlage just not the same as it use to be?

I replaced the lock on our front door a couple years ago and couldn't believe how cheap the thing is, feels like tin. Even when you go to open the door it feels like the knob is going to bust off. Everything is complete junk anymore.

Not only has lighter weight metal, there is more plastic inside. Also there is no longer a bar piece molded into the inner side that slides into the outer side joining them as one. It all relies on the screws for that now-but the screws are larger diameter than the old ones.

Hell, the Peerless faucet I put in the other week is the same thing, feels like tin. Now I didn't pay a ton of money for it and I did buy it at the BB instead of a plumbing supply house but still.....

We got some too, But it came a bit early. We got swamped!! It rained so hard the bilge went off 2 times. But we stuck it out. Once the rain stopped we were the only ones(footloops) left on the lake. Didn't catch much but we had a hoot!!! So cool having a whole lake to just us. Maybe next time the fish will stay out to play too??

Blu Ray can play DVD, but DVD cannot play blu ray.

You can get them pretty cheap now.

Just ordered a replacement for the master bath faucet......original one is pitted and looks cheap and crappy (cheap HD brand). In the previous house, I replaced a bath sink and installed a Kingston brass faucet. Very solid, well made.......very nice unit....so I ordered another Kingston unit for this place. Not too $$ either, and gets excellent reviews online:

This is the one I put in the other house, but didn't pay this price....I think it was about $80. :

    :)

Like everything else, the prices drop, especially last years models plus 4K is going to release soon dropping Blu Ray even more-just dont expect them to last more than a few years

Haven't received the new one for this house, but the one in the previous house was great....smooth as silk, heavy. Seemed well made.

Did you see the reviews on the one I ordered? Mostly all 5 star, with one 4 star.

Also has 10 yr. limited warranty.
