It's going to miss me by 30 miles to the north, thank goodness. 10 days ago it missed me 40 miles to the south. This one has already started as far south as OK city, national news shows it stretching all the way up into the northeast. Good luck to all of you. Not much worse than an ice storm.
We got iced pretty good last night and lost power this morning. It came back on in the afternoon again but now the forecast looks really nasty for the next couple of days again.... Glad we bought the generator!
We got a quarter inch or so of ice yesterday. We didn't lose power yet. Might get more ice tonight. Or rain. Or snow. Time will tell. I brought a bunch of wood in the garage, loaded the pellet furnace, have a handful of bags downstairs, have 10 gallons of gas and test fired the generator. Since I've done all that I can almost guarantee that we won't lose power. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.
A half inch of ice landed overnight and today's.forecast has sleet, freezing rain and snow. We still have power for now.
I cursed myself. Power went out around 3 AM. Going to fire up the generator shortly. Need to make coffee.
b I hear you, unless you've been in a situation where trees and limbs are crashing down around you, you probably can't appreciate it. It's like 50 people running chainsaws and you don't know who to trust or which way to look. It's pretty scary.
Enough already! As if what we got overt the weekend wasn't enough, we are getting another ice storm today. Another half inch is predicted. Every thing outside is glazed over with ice. It is actually raining, but the rain freezes as soon as it hits whatever. As soon as that is over, the prediction is for wind. So, trees covered with ice, then wind. Might be another big mess to clean up come spring. My white birch trees are leaning way over. The maples, pines, and oaks loose a lot of limbs in this stuff. Can't go out in this stuff. Nothing worth a broken hip.
We had an all out rain at 32 degrees last night which lasted a good hour or so, the woods behind the house is a freaking mess, the lot I cut on should be the same, not sure when I'll check that. Tomorrow will be cleaning up downed limbs and trees, a freaking chippers dream. The power just came back on, we lost it last night at 6:00 pm.
the sound outside is like snap,crackle, and pop. put the dog out but he came right back in when some trees snapped. i had all i could do to not slip. horrid mess waiting to be cleaned up. no mail because the road is obstruted by a tree laying over.
Once the power went out last night we decided to cook on the grill in the backyard, I had my cutting helmet on. I wa I had some ice cleats on today (usually used for ice fishing) but it still was slick. That's one of my jobs tomorrow, clean the backyard up with a few other spots.
still in the dark. no heat etc. i have lots of blankets and plenty of food radio going. got out some led lanterns, light ok but not good to work by. nap time
