At first it was saying 27mpg but now its at 22 so not bad. If I turn the ac on or idle it goes way way down too.... I plugged my obd2 bluetooth in and its reading 23 mpg. Im very happy with the mileage over all...

No not the maples it was in front of my neighbors place. The tree was completely rotted away inside and kept loosing huge sections in storms. It was time for it to go away.

It will be getting the cap off my k15 once I repaint it again to match the truck.

Pete nice job on the truck. One problem from where I stand. It does not look like a truck. You ask what do I mean? Any truck I've had needs to have a dent or a scratch to show it's been properly used. :)

No its a 4.8 v8. Its got some good power but not as much as our the k15 350 the 4.8 really does it well though I cant complain...

    5spd stick?
I thought from most reviews the 4.8 ended up being a wash vs. the 5.3L. Highway mileage it would do better but loaded drank as much if not more kind of like the 4.3 V6

Both are better than the 350 in your K15 - might have had 160HP stock:emb:
The crate 350 in my '74 with TH350 gets 10-11mpg unloaded one way loaded the other, the '09 5.3 maybe 18-19 everyday driving

    O that 350 aint stock! :D

As for the 4.8 its auto with a complete tow package with trailer brakes and tow haul factory setup. It is very quiet and very smooth. My 4.3l s10 blazer gets worse miliage then the 4.8l but then its used and abused at almost 300,000 miles so I cant really compare the too.

I dont know much about the 4.8 vs 5.3 other than one has a longer stroke and thats about it. The 4.8 has enough for what I need. I towed a really heavy load of wood chips with it and it didn't shrug at all but it did get much worse miliage from it.

The 350 in my k15 gets about 6mpg :emb:loaded but its a monster of a truck empty 12 to 16 depending on where im driving any good hills and its all over....

I think Ole Ble goes negative gas mileage climbing my driveway loaded down
It has the same/similar Edlebrock carb as yours but stock intake - and not very shiny. TH350 tranny doesn't help my MPG any.

You might be surprised if you do an actual measured tank vs. mileage how far off the OBDII reads - trying to break that to you softly, maybe it's close;)

I wrote it down last fill up so I'll do a run dry and see what I get out of it average. All this talk of mileage got my gears turning lol. The driving we do is almost all freeway so that helps. We live off of a michigan freeway and our work takes us down a us freeway. My wood hauling usually is where I go out to the boonies and hang with Sasquatch. It's amazing how long our vehicles last with freeway driving. I still have the 01 blazer with almost 300,000 and it still runs pretty good for being so beat up and worn. I'm hoping for the same result with the silverado which will be mostly firewood, Home Depot, the wife's kayak, my canoe, bikes and that type of thing after this tank of gas. O and for camping trips...
