Today I shot a little with my wife and daughter. Tonight is dinner with some friends that moved out of town earlier this summer who are back visiting for the weekend. I told my wife I didn't want to do anything else, so we're skipping going to her sisters tomorrow (yah!). Instead just the 3 of us will grill out and have a fire in the side yard. Unfortunetely, while it's been high 70's to mid 80's the entire summer , THIS weekend it's in the 90's and feels super hot! I was really looking forward to gettomg some project done outside that I normally don't have time to get too, but I think instead I'll just clean the basement and garage.

Kids and grandkids have gone camping, wife is visiting her sister (birthday). I am home alone, TV off. (seldom off when the wife is home) Odd hearing the sounds of the house now that everything has been changed over. Water pump, conditioner, furnace, dish washer and effluent pumps. Humming on and off. Dogs and cats just sleeping the afternoon away. I'm digging through boxes of stuff from the move. Surprising how much stuff is trash, or going into the give away bin. At least I'll have a lot done so the kids won't have to do so much later on.

My neighbor just yelled over at me "don't you know it's labor day weekend", as I'm getting ready to lay a pre-finished hardwood floor in the foyer. Then I look at what he's doing, he's fixing up his 1952 MG roadster and say "look whos talking". Anyways, I have a ton to do before my dad moves in, I'll be working on the house all weekend, and enjoying not being at the bill paying job for 3 days.

I know what you mean about the sounds when no TV. Around here, it is very rare for tv or radio to be on and I hate it most times when it is on.

We went to the coast today. Not far from where we live, but always nice to go and listen to the surf. The tide was out so there wasn't much surf to see. But the aroma of low tide sure made its presence known.
Went to 5 Islands in hopes of having a shore dinner, but the line was at least 40 deep. I can't stand more than a few minutes so that was out. Went to Reid State Park. Busy there, but not full. Then went to a restaurant called "The Taste of Maine" That overlooks a large salt water marsh. Both of us ordered a sandwich. Mine was a BLT with lobster. It was huge, but then for $25. it ought to be. Very good, but way to much food. No supper for me tonight. I just settle for a piece of warm apple pie served with cheddar cheese and a cup of tea.
What a beautiful holiday weekend this has been. The weather couldn't be better.

Glad your weather is good. I'll be very happy when ours cools off and also this system where we have foggy mornings. Foggy mornings make for very humid days.

Today in the garage I opened a box from the movers. :picard: After they underestimated what we had (1/2 was already up here), they showed up at 11 pm at night in the beginning of a blizzard. Much of our items were either bare, or haphazzardly thrown into a huge boxs with every kind of items imaginable. And today, I opened a large box. I assume it was one of the first ones. It contained:

All 5 items were overboard on kraft paper wrap :headbang:

    $5 clay patio planting pot
Old lightbulb that was already blown
    Dollar store bowl, already cracked
Old jelly/jam jar with a dead plant cutting

I assume that was the first box they packed:confused:

If that was the first box, maybe emptying and getting rid of boxes might not take too long.

It's actually the opposite, all the crazy boxes are done :) It was the last box for me to open here, and also the first box they packed at previous house.

Who triple wraps an old light bulb?

I spent the morning cleaning up after the big party yesterday, then I mowed the lawn. Took a nap but I got woke up by a phone call. A teacher at work locked her keys in her classroom, so off to work I went to unlock her room. :picard:
