Two piece head on a working saw? I see no reason why it wouldn't work just fine.

I remember thinking that a popup was as good as a cut squish. Eric was one of the few cutting squish back then. I was wrong about that. There's more going on than just raising compression. Eric was spot on. I'd say the same is true about the two piece head thing. Being able to design the combustion chamber has to be a good idea.

Custom tailoring the compression and keeping the ears from breaking has got me to thinking hard on it. A 660 is going to be the first one I try it on.

I had a girlfriend from Wisconsin once. She was great at doing 'things' other than cutting and stacking wood. That stuff kept us pretty busy. She was from Bayfield, WI. Of course it is a heck of a lot colder there than it is here in winter. I only need 3 cords a winter here of good 2 season dry wood, even in this mobile tin can. As cold as it gets here is single digits F. a few weeks a year and it never gets below zero.

Nice stacks though. You are competing with Scotty in PA. I stack mine like that on pallets, o/w they rot here in all this rain we have. I also top mine with rubber roofing material that I got last year. It is UV proof. I use an 8# maul to split all my wood, which keeps me in shape.

Nice looking 028 there too. I offed my 028 and all my other older Stihl AV saws due to lack of parts availability here. Nice saws for their time though. I am sticking with my post-AV and pre-EPA Stihl saws and avoiding all the new computer controlled stuff. For now at least.

I was an early fan of the auto tune technology. Now I am going retro and like the pre X torq 3xx - XP's and 2xx - XP's. Buy em up boys while you can still gettum.

I don't think any of the regular builders even know how to do a "woods port". Once you machine the squish band, mill the base and significantly alter timing numbers, it is no longer a woods port.

Oh yeah I know how. What would be the point of half azz porting a saw though?

Finally got a chance to compare a stock saw to a woods ported saw.

    Good conversation guys.

I fooled around with a 385 just widening the transfer ports, smoothing intake and exhaust, muffler mod. It made a noticeable difference. As you can see, when done right and done completely, the difference is immense. Regardless of who says it is stupid or, a gimmick. There are men that can really build a saw. And videos prove it. all you have to do is ask yourself if you need one. Because the results are undeniable. God Bless
