Loon, it looks like you'll get a second hit with the snow after the ice, stay safe.

The ice has picked up since my last post, so we'll fill that gas caddy tonight, that will leave me two jobs tomorrow, sharpening chains & tire chains on the rhino.

The roads are real chitty if you have to travel out of town.

 

What a great gas can. I think the gas would go bad before I used it all. But a cool design

 

Ya Woodlands. That is nice. If using it regularly, would you just fill it with the smaller 5 gallon cans or just bring it and fill it at the station? That could get heavy. Eh?

 

Just came in from shoveling. Before that started and ran generator. Then shut it down and let it cool. Then filled it up with gas and put it back away. I bought a cart for it years ago because it did not have its own wheels. And that bugger is heavy. Now I can just wheel it out the door to the front patio. I should have taken a picture. Dammit! I must be makin that chit up!

 

I put in a Generac 2 years ago. Comes on automatically, but I'm in a situation where if it rains with no power, I'm really scre#ed.

We took the gas caddy over to the gas station, if your by yourself, it would be a b tch to lift. If we don't get hit bad, the gas will go in the sleds.

 

Not making it up. LOL I've been happy with this generator. It has started and ran reliably with small and large load demands. Has an auto idle on it. So it kicks up and down depending on demand.

 

Our old generator (from the 98 ice storm) started right up. Two years ago we had the carb cleaned, before that the low oil switch went so that's the only money we put in it.

 

That's when I got this generator. Saved my azz that year. I called Wal-Mart before they opened and reserved one. Told them I would be there when they opened the doors. Bought the largest of the three they had left. Barely had enough money to buy it. We had no power for a week and I have baseboard hot water! My tenants and I were styling because we had heat, lots of propane for grills, and satellite TV. Cable TV was out for everyone all over the area. Man, was I glad I was watching the weather for days before and that I got up early and went and bought that generator.

 

Yes. Excellent little work horse, think I bought that at Lowes on sale one year. Just noticed I have a flat on one side. What is it with me and flats?!

 

The other item we bought that year was a scanner, I had never used the weather feature on it until last night, it picks up the NOAA broadcast.

During the 98 ice storm the scanner picked up the Massena Police chasing a peeping tom in our area, so I go on the porch just in time to see the jerk running across my neighbors backyard, I see the police chasing him so I take off running hoping I can stop him from going across the park, he never came across so the police ask me where he went I said he never came across so we went to the back where our neighbor had a composting bin made......he was in there, captured.

 

We'll be burning some Cherry tonight, earlier today we moved in some beech, sugar maple and cherry.

 

Tuesdays temps, high of 5 and a low of -11.

 

We've been having some crazy temp swings this year, can't wait until spring when we get those wind events, it should be good for another three cord.

 

Hey. Stop talking like that. I've cleaned up the trail on the property twice in this last year. Don't need to do it again. And I need another trail cut. Eventually.

I've been thinking about what you said about opening up new trails and that bringing people using them. My father and mother always tried to keep the place quiet. "Out of site, out of mind." And it worked.

So I'm considering staying further away from the property lines when I open a new trail on the other side of the property. We have one trail that goes around and gives access to the larger portion of the property. (Like the larger half.) But I need a trail around the other side so I can use that part of the land.

So I'm thinking of staying further away from property lines so there will be a lot of trees and brush between the lines and the trail. Going to look at property map and start deciding where it should go.

We are going to get some ice here but I don't think it's going to get bad.

I remember a bad ice storm In the 70's, Got home from work at midnight, Stood outside and you can hear trees crashing down all over the place, Moved my car ahead from under the big oak tree branch, The next day that big branch Landed right where my car was had to get it out of the way to get out, We also had a big branch laying on the roof But very little damage.
It was really freaky it was like another world
