So far the quakes are fun to play with but even at $50 I'm not seeing great value... better deals to be found on CL. Unless you just want a saw to let people borrow. It's heavy and out of the box performance is pathetic. I have less into my o26 and have done nothing but clean it and it is 3x faster with a well used chain.

By the time you buy a new chain, sprocket and bar to run .325, mess around with the muffler, defeat the carb limiters, measure squish and delete the base gasket... you might as well watch CL for a week and buy a stihl or husqy.

They are here too, but better saws are available for far less. 024's, o26's, older Jonsereds etc.

But I rarely see anything other than 290 or husky ranchers round here. I'm not really in firewood country. And loggers rarely sell on CL plus those are really ragged!

Both my MS 250's run circles around all the Earthquakes I had (14) and my 026's (both of them) run better than the MS 250's :)

Last summer I did alot of mod's to the Earthquakes; I only have a 38 cc now

Seriously guys, you know me good enough to know I'm just toying with you. They look like nice cheap saws and I can tell you're all having a lot of fun with them, that's what counts. I'd like to run my "stock" rebuilt 024AV against the best of them at the GTG, that would probably be about fair! :campfire:

I think I'm gonna order the richmond 58cc off ebay. Both my china saws blew up in the first 5 cuts and got sent back. :emb: The earthquakes are not available anymore at the low price.

Yep. I check very often. It's almost twice a day that they are available, then not again.

Hard to beat. How much is the Richmond?

The Richmond looks pretty nice for around $135.00.. Specs indicate around 3.4 HP by my calculations.. Keep us posted if you get one as to how well it works.. Do you think parts will be readily available?

Safety of these cheap saws would also be something to consider.. Just how safe are these saws? I would be concerned if they used poorly made chain..

Its Oregon chain? Same chain that you find on those chicom husky in Lowes!

Plus they do have a chain catch and you do wear your gloves and chaps right?
