I wish I could fine a couple of those around here cheap but everyone wants well over $100 each. It would be nice to put 2 of them in front of the splitter and then move them with the tractor once filled.

Frank, keep watch around farms. Many times you'll see some for sale and most will have a plastic tub inside that was used for chemicals. About the cheapest I've seen them around here is $50 each with the tanks in. So far have not seen any without the tanks.

That's great! I'm going to try contacting a few of the places that sell on craigslist around here and see if they have any leakers they would like to sell cheap.

I was just thinking today how a few of these would be useful.

I see the ones with liners for sale around $75-100 on CL in this area. None for sale without liners. I might put up a wanted ad.

Try a metal recycling place if you don't need the liner, these make great book ends for a serious wood stack.:)

I will, although I feel like a tote with the top of the liner cut off would be even more useful for throwing splits in to be moved to a stacking pile.

I would very much like to unitize my firewood so that I can cut it, split it, and throw it in something to be moved with the tractor. I've thought these totes would work well, but how do you get the wood out of the bottom?

Depending a how small your splits are, you might be able to pull them through the squares.

Are they standard size pallets? If so, a 275 shouldn't be much deeper than 3ft.

I put a door on one, and use it for my chunks... They are great, especially if you have a way to move it (fork lift of some sort...)...

I was thinking the same thing. some sort of adaptation, like cutting a few bars might facilitate using a hoe to pull them out. I would think they would be great for uglys.

Not sure if my tractor would be able to lift one full of splits (especially oak). How much do you think a full one weighs? On the plus side, it would give me an excuse to buy a set of forks.
