Crawling distance could be the difference between life and death. Hell, when I dislocated my ankle a few years ago I passed out while crawling back to the car to get my phone and call for help. I'm so thankful I had my son with me because it could have easily been another half hour before I made it back to the car-- and I wasn't more than a minute's walk away.
X2 ... more than once for me. But not more than twice, I swear..LOL Sorry to hear about your phone, mike.
Flippy caps were Stihl's answer to something that was not a problem. They are not equally awful though, some are awfuller than others. Husky flippy caps are excellent. If you don't like them, stick the old screw in one in it's place.
I dislike them. They get out of time and are a hassle in that condition. If they are working right problems are due to operator error but it is easier to make an error than it should be. But the thing that bothers me most is that they are a complicated solution to a problem that at least as far as I can tell didn't exist. There must be something in the German national character that makes them overcomplicate things. Sure they are good engineers but far too often they apply those talents in bizarre ways. Cookoo clocks for example.
I hate those caps. They give me trouble on both the saw and weedeater. If it's not seated properly before I turn it, it gets out of alignment or some chit and it's hell to get it back where it's supposed to be.
If one of my flippy caps gets out of alignment, I grab the lower part of the cap and hold it while I turn the top half. Doesn't take much effort or time.
I do the same, but it doesn't always work. I don't see why they should need to be screwed with at all.
Exactly. Screw on caps never get out of alignment (I suppose you can cross thread them, but the cap itself doesn't get out of alignment) and work just fine. The flippy caps do nothing better than the old caps did and they introduce needless complexity.
I'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between the original Stihl flippy caps and the newer ones with the index line on the face of the white part. I've experienced leaks with a number of the older ones, even after ensuring the O-ring is in good condition and the cap is correctly installed. Haven't had that issue with the newer ones, and I'd like to understand why.
Oh, it gets worse. The first "replacement" phone didn't work right. I got my second replacement yesterday, and after about 2 hours of messing with it, on and off with tech support, I think it's working fine now. Wish me luck...
My ms650 has screw caps. A few weeks ago I had it dump oil in my chaps and shoe. I screwed it in and thought it was on tight and straight. Apparently not cause like 2 cuts in it dumped all that oil when I tilted the saw to the left. Not sure what happened..but it sure was not in right! I prefer the screw caps too. Takes to long to line up flippy ones. The husky ones are better but they thread on right as anything! Almost like a swollen poulan cap
Grinding steel with a phone in a holster on your hip is not good, grinding dust killed it. It was a hassle but, I had insurance and got a refurb, all was good.
I dont even know what that means or why you would do that? I know what unlock it means kind of. But why?
