I know I said I'd not be going to Windows 10. My desktop is still on Windows 7, but I am considering the upgrade. The MacBook Air is used primarily by my 13 year old daughter. As a result, I decided to take my work laptop, and install Windows 10 on it. I don't store work related files on it so the test would not hurt me. Low and behold I actually love Windows 10. It's Windows 7 on steroids in my opinion. Windows 8 was a complete disappointment like Windows Me, Windows 2000, etc.....

As I was running LINUX Mint on my work laptop, a Lenovo T430, I ended up performing a fresh install. If you own a Windows 7 or 8 license like I do, do not do this. There is no upgrade path if you perform a fresh install. Instead you are forced to purchase a new license or install Windows 7/8 first, and then perform the upgrade. I really like my configuration at the moment. Not sure I want to blow it away. At some point soon I'll need to make a decision.

Summary: Windows 10 is worth it.

I haven't had any mayor issues with it so far. I just found it difficult to split screen like Win 7 when you have two doc up on the monitor. Maybe I am not doing it right?

I'm curious so what is the size of Windows 10 and what memory is required to run it, 4 gig do it?

Depends if you go 32 or 64 bit,and I reccomend 64,but I am just a mechanic. For 64 bit you need 2g,BUT other parts of machine need some,so 3 would be best.I took an old dell, put 8g and windows 7 64b(same requirements for 10,supposably) and it screams. All this can be found on net.

My laptop is 64 bit but I'm not sure I want to even replace windows 7 with 10, not sure but I think I can upgrade the memory a little, I'm thinking more along the lines of a new, edit,,, (different) laptop to put 10 on

OK,just to help you a little,it makes no difference what bit your laptop(processor) is,the operating system(32/64)does not care.Anything(operating system)64 is way faster, and smother in my opinion. The old one(inspirion 530) I put that on impressed me so much,in a few days I will be putting 7 64b on this old laptop(inspiron 1501).Heck,I am watching tv on an old xp home basic.BUT I am very money strapped, and this makes my stuff useable for 5-8 more years.BUT check walmart website, you can get a refurb. pc,laptop or desk, with valid system installed, quite cheap,BUT it will have lots of preinstalled pop up advertising, easily removed.Bob

And,as I like 7,will prob stay.If you have 7,10 will fit/work.Most people really like it,but I like old standard systems.10 does have some security problems with people that use them on different connections,wifi,etc.7 is very secure. They have anounced end of life support for 7 will/has been extended.(must be reasons?)I have to go up to the neighbors this week and do her 10 upgrade, but as she has a newer HP with 8,that she never figured out,it locked up when the norton antivirus went out of date(fixed that several months ago),and her work(the local collage) is upgrading to 10,she wants it at home.10 is not bad, just not what I need.vista was/is bad,7 is what vista should have been,8 was a disaster,8.1 was a temp fix,10 is made to work on many devises, esp. touchscreen.
