Ah yes, windows, home of the many reboots and BSOD among other things. I lived in that world on the work side for years at home that wasn't the case at home after 1996 or so. I have the source code to my system including the third party stuff with the sole exception of the DRM crap, so when things go bump in the night I can actually find and fix it, I don't have to reboot my system except to replace the kernel, every thing else stays a running and I replace the bad crap. I have maintained and upgraded software remotely while the system ran.

I'll just keep having beers and reboot occasionally. Keep the money for more beer.

Like any IT professional would do. Reboot it, and if that doesn't work buy a new one.

It used to be much bigger , when I knew that I was going to put the 2nd pellet eater in I stopped processing fire wood and turned that firewood shed into a storage area for stuff that was taking up space in the garage ,thus making room for more pellets

Yup and I would come along and clean the clocks on the hard drive, install some toys and use it for at least another 10 years. My 2004 one I replaced last year was running out of video processing power I could have just replaced the video card but that would only have lead to needing more memory so a nice little ASUS box took care of that and more. My machine is on its least power using settings which means it is way under clocked and it still beats the dickens out of the older machine.

Delivered, installed and working on the USB connection, maybe later I'll set it up to be a wireless unit. But for now the boss needs to do some printing and I need to write a cover letter to send some crap to MetLife. I'll also have to route a cable to another circuit, don't need things blinking when it starts printing.

Our wood pile is a fraction of the size it used to be since we put in the pellet stove too.

I'm always installing software because It is playing with toys to me. I can turn this machine into many different computers, in fact I play with software that was used on every different machine I have ever worked on and I have worked on more than a couple. In fact I can even run MS systems that I have a license for. You spend your money on those smoothies and I'll brew my own and use the money I save not having to pay the MS tax every couple of years to get different toys to play with.

One toy I have is all the boom sticks I need to do in the varmints and to go food hunting with. All I have to do is go out either the front or back door no need to travel, fishing is a out the back (front) door and walk a couple hundred feet and it is trout heaven. No travel needed and no boat. If I want to go after salmon well that is a little bit longer walk (half mile) and again no boat needed. Have lumbering trails and snowshoes to go on in the winter. No need for a snowmobile to crash into trees with. I have broad band internet, three streaming video services, a decent smart TV, blu-ray DVD player and 17 channels of dreck to watch. Oh and now there is no cat in the house more than a couple of model choo choo trains (google DCC) to set up. Then there is my available to all wifi enabled computers, tablets, and smart phones CD (soon to include DVD) collection curtsey of my router and several multimedia utilities.

And the biggest toy of all is the time to play with it. I got out of the rat and keeping up with neighbor races years ago.

Well need to visit staples to do some copying. damm MetLife crap is a pain. Next up is to write that cover letter. 13 pages some with multiple sections needing a signature. Now those poor folks will appreciate the hen scratching not, at least they will be able to read the cover letter. Freaking mess no paper reduction in the insurance business.

Yup, I'm surprised they don't want a color copy and a finger print card done by a police or sheriffs department, when I worked for the second financial institution I worked for I had to be analyzed, for the third one nothing, for the fourth I needed to be fingerprinted and they pulled a full background check. I'm afraid that you are wrong on the :loco:  eatonpcat, the head folks passed me :bug::bug:. I still have a copy of that rather large report.
