Forecast was for 28 today. That was yesterday. Got up this morning , and that had changed to 25. Not much difference, but indicative of our forecasts. Went down to 0° last night about 10, then back up to 10 by bedtime. Warming trend the next several days. My woodshed thanks Ma Nature. Gotta' go let the dogs in.
Yup. Those is some cold azz temps for this time of year. Time for bed and it is -1 on the back porch at 10:11 pm. Boiler is full of Ash and humming along.
About the same temps here, some Sugar Maple & Beech getting ready to go in, we'll give the pellet stove the night off. It looks like we might get some ice for late Friday night.
UGH! I hate ice! I hope it doesn't amount to much. The temp is right at zero on the back porch this morning. Had to clean the ash pan out on the boiler. Going through a good amount of wood. Especially the last week. Glad I'm not paying the oil guy.
It could get bad, I'm sure they will have a better idea on the areas that will get hit the worst by later tomorrow. http://forecast.weather.gov/product...&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off
After watching the last report on the possible ice storm, time I get ready for some possible power outages, on the high side we can get one inch of ice. I think .25 or .50 is the low estimate from today, it was hard to see the map behind all the lines( it looks like northern ny,burlington are in that area so far) so I'll watch his report again tonight. It's time I sharpen some of my chains on the grinder, I've been hand filing. Two vids, the first talks about the potential flooding, just a bit about the ice storm, the second is more about the possible ice storm. http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-video/weekend-storm-to-produce-flooding-and-storms/90462062001 http://www.accuweather.com/en/weath...st-snowstorm-ice-storm-northeast/655578741001
Oh boy...more snow. I can hardly wait to plow.......again. Where's FEMA? I've officially declared my driveway a disaster area.
Oh crap! I need to pull my generator out and start it up. Time to do that anyway. It has been a while. I don't know what I will do back at the camp if we lose power there. I don't have any back up there. Just turn the well pump off and hope the power is not out for too long right now. We are going to try to find an inexpensive genny in the future for the camp.
I'll be watching for his next update, if I post I'm filling the 17 gallon gas tank (bought after Sandy hit for emergencies) with some five gallon tanks, get ready!
http://forecast.weather.gov/product...&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off Not a good report Gasifier, I saw our area in Colton might get 1.25 inches of sleet & freezing rain starting late Saturday through Sunday.
They just put us in the severe zone. The below is the info for the Colton area, your info is almost the same except you will get 7.0 hours of precipitation. Max UV Index: N/A Thunderstorms: 0% Precipitation: 1.25 in Rain: 0 in Snow: 0 in Ice: 1.25 in Hours of Precipitation: 7.5 hrs Hours of Rain: 0 hrs
Frig! So that is going to happen on Friday through Saturday woodlands? Time to make generator and more gas priority today.!
Woodlands. It says up to 1.25 inches of ice. Do you know how much ice that is compared to that nasty ice storm we got in 1998, Jan. ?
I think it was just over three inches of ice, here is one map I found on the net. We also could get A PERIOD OF WINTRY MIXED PRECIPITATION ON FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY. SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 6 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY...NORTHERN ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS IN NEW YORK...AND EXTREME NORTHERN GREEN MOUNTAINS IN VERMONT BY SATURDAY MORNING. If we get the above with the ice, I would think we'll lose power in our area.
