I suspect the gang of hooligans who took this photo had just such a thought in mind ;-)

My three year old lab is having some regression. She has been incontinent at night, even after having been let out before we go to bed. She started this before the move, it was erratic at first, then picked up. I tried all sorts of things like picking up the water dish after 6 pm. I won't scold her unless I catch her in the act. I praise her when she goes outside and does her duty. First dog I ever had like this. So, as a last resort, I started to kennel her when we go to bed. I keep the kennel in our bedroom so she won't feel so abandoned. Well, that worked. She won't soil in her bed. I don't know how long I'll have to keep kenneling her, but it is better than being angry with her or having clean up after her.

We are going through a similar ordeal with maple. First she had a uti, fixed with meds, now months later, it happened twice in a row the past two nights. She has accidents during the day once and awhile, but if we catch
her in the act, NO! And right outside to finish, with a treat when she is done. If it continues savemoney, might need a mid stream uring collection.........

Meet Tugboat. He's a middle-aged chitzu stud rescued from a puppy mill. He he's very scared of everything right now, but in just 2 days is starting to learn to trust us. We were able to trim his hair (please ignore the crummy, wonky cuts, he was moving around alot) and bathe him. We are planning to foster this one until he gets enough social skills for adoption. He loves the our yard.

BTW, Hermie did fine with his neuter operation is very happy and healthy.

Apparently, this forum translates the "S" in chitzu into a "c". :picard:

    DOG FOR SALE :

[IMG] [IMG]A guy is driving around the back woods ofMontana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale 'He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.

    'You talk?' he asks.
    'Yep,' the Lab replies. [IMG]

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'

The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so... I told the CIA.

In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.'
[IMG]'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running...

But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in.
I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.'
'I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.'

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

    'Ten dollars,' the guy says.
'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?'

'Because he's a Bullchitter. He's never been out of the yard'

Both dogs sleep with us. When maple gets bigger, she'll have the option to sleep in her own bed (if she wants to....)

Puppy mills. I do think people have a right to be breeders, but they also need to be responsible breeders. I hope we educate everyone to not support puppy mills by buying from them and the pet stores. We seem to have a handle on that in this state. Mixed breed dogs are being sold for a few hundred dollars, and we import animals from out of state by the hundreds. I'm not aware of shelters having to put dogs down here because there are no homes for them. Our main problem here is hoarders. one of them is a lady who has been convicted of hoarding and animal abuse over and over. I tip my to you and your wife for taking in these animals. It can take a long time before the animal will come to trust.

Spent 2 hours looking at a local lab rescue website. Fell in love with 1 in particular who could be bentleys twin.

Ultimately I decided I don't have enough house and yard for another 100 lb dog. That was hard to decide.

    Soooooooooo, what did I do?
Offered to foster and possibly adopt a beagle from a different place.
We will see if it turns out.

    Bentley needs a playmate.

I need advice on what to tell my lil one (4 y/o) that her grandma's dog is gone. She only goes there twice a year but she talks about grandma and her dog as a set. I hope she will get another visit at grandmas before winter and I want her prepared to know that dog will not be there.

Knee jerk response is to tell her the dog went to heaven. Ummmmm, is that ok?

If you don't think she's ready for the death conversation, maybe that the dog simply ran away? I don't have kids, and surely don't advocate lying, but I'm gonna guess this happens alot every day in specific situations.

You know.....this kind: daddy, why are you on mommy hurting her? :zip:

Oh, you might want to reconsider that. Did the dog pass on? or run off. I wouldn't want her to think the dog is out there lost, starving or hurt., or didn't want to be with Grandma. Better off to tell her truth, "she got old, sick, and passed on at the
vets or what ever else is closest to the truth. My granddaughter recently handled the passing of her pet cat. It took awhile for the cat to be discussed in the past tense, but after a couple weeks, she got it right.
