Not what I was planning on doing today, but I did get some, spliting done. My little trailer was fine a couple weeks ago when I used it, started to use it today and found a major slime blowout The tire is just rotten that's all,. I put slime tubes in these tires about 10 years ago so that's not bad. Good thing is, I found some highway rated tires that will fit in the shed. Got my shoes slimed taking the tire off the rim Tires I got from the shed, just have to put them on the other rims, pain in the azz getting off
I slimed the tractor tires a few years ago so I could stop adding air every time I wanted to drive it. It worked.
Yeah its a pain in the butt, having to air tires up on something every time you want to use it. I had to slime all the tires on my little 4 wheel buggy it was only 2 years old
I worked at a tire shop years ago. The first question I would ask a customer when they came in with a flat was "did you put fixaflat or slime in it" many would say "nope". Then when I popped the bead I got slimed! Them sumbit#$&@ lied!
The slime sure helps out a lot with slow leaks and small punctures. I've been lucky enough to never have to deal with changing one that I've slimed. It has got to be a real mess. Good luck with the tire swap! At a glance, it appears that 'ole tire has served you well for a LONG time! You'll be in good shape for another 100,000 miles in no time!
Wow, your trailer looks like a clone of mine. Mine is 25 years old, rusty in spots but just keeps on going. Had to replace my original tires this spring. Never even knew about that slime stuff, could have used it. For the last year or so I had to pump up the tires every few days as they both leaked.
So it looks like I'm not the only one that has a bunch of random tires laying around in the shed. Thought maybe I was a hoarder or something.
Sure does look the same , mine is 20 years old ,bought it at Tractor Supply , beat the crap outa it, been living outside It's whole life but just keeps on going n going , but I guess It's time fore some new shoes
HD, I'm wondering if you get the tires off the ground when not using the trailer? Or if nothing else, put a couple pieces of 1 x 6 or something similar under the tires when parked, even if it is on cement. If parked on cement, it will still tend to get wet under the tires.
I found a nice set of 8 or 10 inch solid rubber tires on an axle in the dumpster at work. Just the size I needed to fit my chicken tractor.
I don't park it any special place just wherever. I could get it up off the ground for the winter because I don't use it then
It definitely pays. Takes but a few minutes to get it up or put some wood under it and the tires will last a lot longer.
All fixed up, these are 4 ply tires, with a new slime tubes , just in case, probably last me 20 plus years. Glad I did not throw them away Got a little splitting done but got rained out.
