Got my replacements. Thought they'd only have GS's by the door, But got lucky with some TSC branded. I giggled a little once I saw the UPC!

I got a couple last spring and they burned just like the Stove Chow's I got at HD. Good heat and about average ash. I was please with them.

They were one of the hottest pellets I burned last season. Depending on the batch, the most ash too! Got 2 tons in the bunker now...

I didn't open these yet. I suspect they are cream colored like the ones I snagged in the spring. I think this could be the same batch that they received in April.

The ones I grabbed in the spring were super dark, just like the ones in the "real" chow bags I had picked up at HD late last year. The two tons I just picked up recently are not that dark color anymore, so they must be from a different batch.

I burned 3 ton of Sets winter past. I get ya with dark. Some say they had a bit of hickory/red in them. All in all I was still happy with them,,,,,, specially the ones from TSC for $250 per ton.

I think mine are mostly red oak, Maybe a bit of white mixed in. Light redish in color. Won't know how they burn until the cold gets here. Ain't burned em in ions, Sure hope they crank the BTU's like they used too!!

Edit: Pic of the pellet color.

They said when Somerset has a heavier than normal run of Hickory is when their ash level increases. I've burned them and love them...so does my father in law cuz I always hook him up with freebie 'Sets!

Thats how mine looked last year. Smelled like differential oil to me last year but burned well. When I said real dark pellets I meant the tsc energex. Almost black

I can confirm this, at least the ashy part of it. The Sets that I have right now are much, much ashier than other batches I've burned in the past. Still good heat, but need to clean more often.

Also know as "rear end grease" to the old timer mechanics....which I think is weird cuz it ain't grease but it sure does stink!

The rename from "rear end grease" to "differential oil" is the first instance of political correctness on record ,, , me thinks:hair:
