Here's the deal on the table. Go to my buddy's house and help him cut down 3 ash trees, and I keep all the wood. Not too bad and he has a dump truck to use for the delivery. I'm going over there to do the work in the days following X-Mas. He's speculating that there's 3 cords maybe of ash. Ash trees are maybe 12" in diameter.
Hmmm, nice score, but I have doubts about the amount,......unless he means 3 "face cord". I've taken down 12" dia. trees that gave me about 1/3 cord, and that included quite a bit of branch wood. Unless those trees are 100' tall.......or more. Anybody care to correct me? It would benefit firecracker.
It will take about 128 running feet of log that is a foot in diameter to make a cord. Just stack the logs up 4 wide and 4 high and 8 feet long for a good estimate. You'll probably come in just over one cord with limbs.
Sounds like easy picking with the dump truck and all, go for it. But a cord does sound more accurate.
The yield picks up quick as the log gets bigger. Having a dump truck at your disposal makes the transportation easy. It's still a good deal. Hopefully there is a bucket to load it with too.
