EasyHeat results: FINAL RESULTS Temp Average - 270-320 (on door thermometer) Ash Volume - 5 ounces Ash Weight - 1.60 ounces Ash Percentage - 0.25% (very good) *with most of clinker* Fines In Bag - less than 1/8 cup (very little fines) Pellet Length Avg. - 1/2" - 2.0" Bag Weight - 40.2lbs. (9.65 oz. left in hopper) Notes: Donated by R&S Flooring for testing Most pellets are on the long side (see pic) Smell like fresh cut plywood As soon as this company gets their "recipe" figured out, these should be a half decent pellet. What these currently have going for them is decent heat (once it's dialed in) and very low ash but in order for me to get decent heat I literally needed to double my feed rate because of the longer pellets. I typically run my stove on 2-3 but with these pellets I needed to crank it to 6 to get them to feed. What they don't have going for them is long pellets and a Texas sized clinker left in my burnpot after one bag. As you can see in the picture, it covered all the holes in my burnpot. R&S donated two bags and I had giant clinkers with both. I have NEVER, even remotely, ever had my burnpot full of nasties like this. I'm not sure where they get their raw materials from but it seems like leftover construction material is used in manufacturing these......but hey, I could be dead wrong! All in all, I have to say I personally would pass on these but give them a try for yourself but proceed with caution if you're going to buy larger quantities. Disclaimer: as with everything.......YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY
Nice review. Just a thought.... you doubled the feed rate to get heat, but did you raise the LBA too? More airflow usually helps eliminate clinkers by blowing more ash out of the burn pot. Whenever I raise the feed rate to get heat out of a poorer pellet, I always raise the LBA too.....haven't had a clinker in a LONG time using that procedure.
No, I didn't raise the LBA. I'm trying to sort of keep things somewhat equal across the board as much as possible. I've really never had anything crust up the pot on my EP like these pellets.
No, I took the pot out into the driveway since it was still smoldering/glowing, sort of like coal, and when I dumped it out I got the damm thing wet with the snow melt.
This was laying on top of the wet side....weighed in at 0.45 oz. Which would bring in ash percentage closer 0.25% *I'll edit my percentage up top*
If you look them up (Buckeye Diamond Products? ) they make Pallets. So a lot of there raw materials, likely come from pallets. I found these to be the worst pellet I burned. Therewas plastic riddled in the pellets. Looked like a bowl of lucky charms. Can post pics if people don't remember them from 2 years ago.
Dex, I remember that and didn't realize it was the EH pellets. Good catch! Yes, the EH and Buckeye websites have the same physical address listed.
