image.jpg hey all I received my fresh box of 72 Super Cedar fire starters. I bought a 36 box 2 years ago. I sill have 6 of those left! They are fantastic. I use a half SC in a cold stove and don't need to bother with kindling. I stick a dry piece of Silver Maple on top of the fire starter and then pack whatever else around it. Works like a champ. If you have em you know. If you don't you should.

Buying them without the wrapper do you have any trouble with humidity messing them up in the off season

No. They do shed some. We just put the remains in little boxes and use it.

Did you by chance get the 10% discount MF ? I know Thomas was giving a discount last year and it is in the classified section. Not sure if it's still good for this year....might have to see if one of the Mods can reach out to Thomas if not.

They are indeed wonderful. We've used them for many years now and the thing I like best is that for the first time my wife can start a fire in a cold stove using the super cedar. However, we use only 1/4 of one to start a fire.

We have both the wrapped and unwrapped SC. I always carry some in the car and hand some out whenever I learn of another wood burner. We have not sold any wood in the last 3 years but used to always include a couple SC with a load of wood.

    How expensive are they?

I usually save burnables such as cardboard and news paper over the summer but I'm tired of the stuff taking up garage space.

The more you buy the more you save of course. But bank on around a buck a piece. I use a half every time I start a fire. Experts like backwoods savage Only use a 1/4. And since they work great. I think it's a hell of a deal. It saves me tons of time not making kindling. Because, you simply don't need kindling. Dry splits and Super Cedar is all I need

Hmmm. I'll have to give them a shot. My dry pine is darn near match light. Unfortunately, we never have coals the next morning. I like to light the fire then go about getting ready for work. Just before I head out the door I stoke it up so the house is warm when my wife gets up.

Got a box of the FHC labeled ones late last season. Only had a chance to start one fire so am looking forward to fine tune the process. The 'no kindling' startup is my goal. There are lots of posts on how to use them, going to search for ideas. Never too old to learn something new.
