It is getting weird around here with all the fires. The sky is darkish all day, and the sun is bright orange at sunset. My car was covered with ash this morning. We are 10 or so miles from the nearest fire. We really need some rain, it is so dry. Greg
I feel for you. I have been in that several times, no matter what, your home, your clothes, hair, car, even elevators in buildings smell like a campfire. We have heavy haze here from the fires. Usually the mountains are crystal clear. Stay safe and prepared to leave if needed
10% chance late next week. Maybe some lightening without rain this weekend. Ready to go at a moment's notice (reminds me of the Congo ...). Greg
I have a brother living in Grand Forks BC. Is that the same fire that is threatening them? I think they are calling it the Stickpin fire.
It is sad to see these fires like this, even worse when it threatens people's homes and lives. I am hoping they can get it under control, and a good rain would surely help. Best of luck to anyone affected by this
bushpilot and Elderthewelder and cgraham1 , how are the fires out there? We were in the back yard tonight and smelled very faint smoke. Not a woodstove, pelletstove, or campfire, but wildfire smoke. Pretty distinct to us. I pray you all get some relief soon.
Friday was lousy with smoke, Saturday was nearly perfect, today lousy and smells like smoke. Air quality index is "unhealthy," with all the usual warnings. No fires threatening us yet. No rain "threatening" either. Greg
we got a fair amount of smoke over the weekend as the winds shifted and blew it over the mountain pass's to the west side of state. As far as fire danger is concerned, I live on the west side of the state and the fires are on the other side of the mountains in Central Washington so I am good
Hang in there, not fun. No doubt you are signed up with the county/city emergency notifications?, and that the evac preparation lists are being advertised everywhere? Are schools still in session with the smoke?
New fire just popped up!!! No lightning, so most likely human caused. School is still in session, they just keep the kids inside all day.
