    Very nice.

    I got the call today that my angle came in at the fab shop I buy from. I am using some 12x12x3" 90% alumina bricks for a heat shield on the Optima I am installing. Was going to use them for a gasifer but decided against it. The angle will be a frame work to hold the bricks. Think of the game 'connect four' and you pretty much got the idea.

    I laid up a bunch of veneer years ago with the construction outfit I worked for- along the exposed crawl space walls and 2 fireplaces in the house- big job, turned out great. I really enjoyed the work, very rewarding- as I'm sure you feel now that your's is finished.

    So did you just nail the hardi to the studs on top of the sheetrock? Any wire lathe? It looks like you let the edge of the stones hang past the hardi, how far? 1/4" hardi right?

    I screwed 1/4" hardi to the studs every 8" and used 1/4" toggles on the right side bc there was no stud. I caulked the back of each piece with a fireproof caulk before I stuck them on. I made the stones overhang the hardi 1" on each side to give it more of a free standing look. I didn't like the look of grouting or adding mortar to the ends
