I just came across this firewood AD in NJ.. http://cnj.craigslist.org/grd/5167484526.html I don't know if the link works or not, if not I'll try again. I really like the car tire sized rounds for 800$
I guess he thinks it's ready to burn.. I should email him and tell him I'll take it all.. But for free.. Lol
he states in the header that it is Clean-Seasoned-Top Quality and in the description that it is all "dried one season"
That's the problem.. He's lazy. And his price for 18 rounds at 800$ is just ridiculous.. I'm paying 800 and I have to hump it home, split it, season it then sell it!???!! Pretty funny..
A few days ago while going through Mancelona, a tree had been taken down in someone's front yard. All the rounds were sitting around the stump with a sign stuck in the middle......."For Sale". All I could think was I'd consider taking it for firewood......for free, or you could pay me to get it out of your yard.
Reminds me of a sale I kept watch on. There was an older wheelchair ramp for sale in this guys yard. He first wanted $400 for it. Time past and the price kept dropping. The last price I saw on it was $50. Now I don't know if he sold it or not, just that it is gone. This guy often has stuff for sale in his front yard . Always seems to start off high. He now has an old Franklin stove for $150.
that is funny, but I don't want any of his junk! To me, he is asking people to pay to haul off his trash. I haven't been able to buy any roadside or lawn sale items for the past several years. No place to put these "bargains" I catch all kinds of he!! If I bring anything home.
Many years ago, before the internet was much of a thing, a guy I know wanted to get rid of an old couch from the house he and some other guys were renting while in college. They put the couch on the front lawn with a FREE sign. It sat there for a couple of weeks, with nobody interested. Then my friend got a bright idea. He removed the FREE sign and replaced it with one that said "FOR SALE, $20." The couch was stolen during the following night.
It's a good thing he top covered those big rounds sitting in the dirt. Should really help speed up rot, especially the ones end grain down.
Looks like he's asking $750 for 3 *face* cords @ 16" IE 1 full cord. You might want to consider fuel oil or moving out of the convenience store if that's the going rate! I thought all you Jersey guys got your wood delivered for free on account of the exorbitant dumping fees?
I haven't paid for wood since I started "collecting" , it's out there, just gotta go and get it. I put an ad on Craigslist that says I'll come and cut up fallen trees and take what I can, that's paid off a few times. At this time of the year the tree guys call asking if I want certain trees..
I had similar with a pop-up camper for an old pickup. Got down to $50, couldnt even give it away. Took a bunch of pics and sold it on ebay for $1200 that August and
In my area, unfortunately, it's free to dump brush and organic materials at dump. Never seen rounds. if you got rounds you split and sell them. Dump takes this material compost it and sells you back organic topsoil for 40 a yard! Same with recycling it's mandatory and free as are hazardous materials for households . Now trash that is gonna cost you! Building materials are twice!
