That's Cody in the video. He was 20 years old or so then.

Remember when buying a bigger saw that those museum pieces were most likely felled and bucked by hand with 2 man crosscut saws.

On the other side of amazing; at Killarney provincial park just east of Lake Huron grow a species of oak that are decades, even hundreds of years old that don't grow more than a few inches in girth.

In 2011 I took a solo motorcycle trip out west. One day I rode the Avenue of the Giants near Fortuna, CA. The biggest trees I'd ever seen, right next to the road....

You had better come out here soon as they are slowly disappearing.

That is really a shame. Glad we got to see them when we did.

The Avenue is awesome. We spent 7-8 hours just going through it. We walked almost every marker.

I've been up there twice to Albertabut never any farther west than Edmonton. I'll have to plan a trip when the little one is big enough to walk several miles on her own and hit the redwoods and then go up the coast.

When the girls were a lot younger, we took them one Christmas out to Manitoba. Once we left the foothills of the Rockies and hit the prairies, one of them comment on that it was really flat and there really weren't any trees!
