I wasn't referring to the Fines issue but thanks for bringing that up. It was more of an ash/clinker issue as I stated before. Which was do you stand behind your product. You then went on to say there has never been as issue lmfao. "Okie Gold Nugget" thread ring a bell? Anyway, if you just responded with what I highlighted to begin with we could have saved some time and not rehashed old issues. See, we all know there will be issues time to time. It is how the manufacturer handles them that makes them stand out. Your first instinct is to deny yours exist and then change the subject.
will711....I'm very passionate about my pellets as well....its also what I do to make a living...so excuse me if I get the hair up on the back of neck from time to time...you are talking to someone who build this brand in this market one dealer at a time, from pretty much a standing start to where we are today....which is just a tad larger that where we were 7 years ago...I have very thick skin and will roll with the best of them, unless you are talking smack about my pellets....I just may come out swinging at that point....keep the topic to pellets and you will probably keep a larger audience....just my very humble opinion....
How many people had clinker issues?......that came to my attention or thru dealers.....after all said and done....very very few......and for the thousands of ton we have sold since that time.....I don't think I have had any complaints this year about that....so its not considered a serious problem. Again, clinkers are not something we can fix even if we wanted to as it has more to do with the mineral content in the wood, which Mother Nature determines. Its like my Douglas Fir, if you are heating a very small area...say 800 sq ft ...it might be too warm for some and they have to open a window or a door.....we don't consider that a problem.....we are selling energy in a bag... I think if you check with just about any one of my dealers you will find I follow up just about after every truck they receive to make sure it is to their satisfaction....and if they do have any problems, I am probably one the easiest and fastest reps they can deal with. We stand behind our product and have proven that if and when there is a real issue....but don't come to me 6 months after you receive your pellets and tell me that you have some wet bags on the bottom of the pallet after you have stored them outside on the grass....we won't honor that....sorry Another thing we can't control is how well people know how to operate their stoves. How clean they are...all that and more will drastically effect how good or bad a burn they get. Some stoves are much more picky about what pellets they burn than others....and then there are those that look at you funny when you asked them when was the last time the stove was properly cleaned....that is a whole other issue.
Agree with most. Except the fact that you could not fix the clinker issue. With what you wrote, if you had an abnormally bad batch of wood with high mineral concentration you would chalk it up to an act of God. That excuse doesn't fly. So who eats the cost of that? The consumer or you? To me clunkers is absolutely a manufacturing issue and should be made right by them.

A clinker is simply the amount of mineral content in the wood. There is nothing a manufacture can do other than hope the next load of raw fiber that they get in doesn't have as much in it. You can't "fix" a clinker issue. Either you have it or you don't....The extremely small amount of clinkers that were reported were mostly chunks about the size of a quarter that could be picked out and removed by hand when the stove was cool enough. They weren't welded on to the burn pot that someone had to take a screw driver and hammer too....so there wasn't any cost involved for the client if they were unlucky to experience them....I think at some time or another, just about every manufacture will experience a run of clinkers...certainly some more than others.....it is more of an inconvenience for most. Thankfully, for us at least, it is very rare for them to appear.. Like most, we only use 100% wood, no additives or binders...just whatever Mother Nature grows in the forest is what goes into our pellets. Depending on the content of the earth those trees are grown in, will determine the content of mineral in that soil and thus absorbed into that growing tree. I can only imagine that cutting into a fresh pallet of pellets feels like seeing one roll off the end of the assembly line, or seeing that full truck roll out of the yard on its way to a dealer....A very good feeling it is.....
By far, those Oakies are much more consistent, size wise. The DC have a lot of bits & pieces. IMO, the Oakies would give you a more consistent burn.
