Is it just me or does anyone else here feel like a criminal or a bother to want to buy single bag pellets to try out? Personally I dont commit to any large purchase before "test driving" so I always find new kinds of pellets in my travels and most place dont want to open the ton and want you to buy some junk "green supremes" on the floor. Seems like its always a hassle. Any of you guys get this out there at stores and shops?

The shops will get you want you want but you pay a premium per bag for buying less than a ton.

Me too. Seems many pellet houses don't want to break tons of special product. They usually only have blah brands open. I usually ask to speak to the manger/owner. Explain why you want a trial. The good ones will oblige!!

Box stores always seem to have open pallets. Mostly because they ding em. If they have a brand not open? Ask the area manager. They usually will pull a pellet around for you if asked nicely.

Even with a stove that burns dirt, I always feel better after a test run/drive. Mainly on the new brands or the ones I have't seen before.

No problems here all 3 stove shops that I deal with, gladly sell bags ,now they only have 3 - 4 choices same for Joe at Bucks Pellets he'll sell bags all day long . For the Big Boxes I always carry a pocket knife ,if I see something under the shrink wrap that I want and it's not on the floor guess what it's gonna be . Like I hate propane says " I help myself "

what is the proper definition for pellet pig. Because i have a feeling i am one. I once drove 100 miles for barefoots. I keep 4 tons on hand and can only burn 3. I stop at every store every week checking the pellet brand and status. I think i got the sickness gentlemen:thumbs:

If you see a ton of somersets lying around, don't bother trying test bags. Just buy as many tons as your stash can hold. They don't get much better than sets!

The TSC stores around here are generally good about letting you pick bags from any pallet. The pellet stores, like IHP said, charge a huge premium to buy anything less than a ton. They will get you for $8 a bag and sorry but TT ain't paying that to test any pellet!
