Wasn't sure where to post this but I see a lot of truck stuff on this forum and maybe this info can help someone here so here goes. Doing a dpf delete and egr blocker plate tomorrow on my truck. This big old canister containing the dpf and scr system will be dropped in favor of a 4" straight pipe that will still use the factory muffler and split tip. This will end all dpf regeneration and the use of def which combined cause almost every fault code in new emissions diesels. It will also add fuel economy. I normally get 17-21 and people I've talked to with the setup and tunes I'll be running see between 18 and 23. I'll be running a very mild tune for as little smoke as possible. 1439592055376.jpg

The second part is the egr. Just doing the plates with an egt probe for now since it only has 35k on it. Hard to see but it will do away with this pipe and simply be stuck open. The plates are installed at the ends of the current pipe.. 1439592655821.jpg

1439593031426.jpg 1439593106620.jpg Truck has seen 2 winters so I'm doing the first step now.. Hitting the bolts on the exhaust system with some pb blaster..lol.. The rear will be super easy but the front is gonna be bad since the nuts are welded to the back of the dpf so we have to turn from the front.. my finger is pointing to probably the worst part of the entire process which is the upper front bolt on the exhaust. The rear will be a piece of cake..

This is the most important part of the process. The payment for my buddy who's experienced at this..lol.. He's as excited as I am even though he's a Cummins guy. We both wanna hear the turbo and see what the 6.7 will do.. Wish me luck!! 20150814_171850.jpg

Acetone and atf mix will loosen those bolts even better than PB. Atf by itself doesn't do bad with all the solvents in it.

My experience with new trucks is enough to make me never want a diesel pickup again. It's a nightmare. Though the current price of diesel fuel vs gasoline is somewhat tempting, the inevitable headaches just don't seem worth it to me.

    Good luck, brother.

I've never had any issues with mine so far and the power is absurd. I always had 1/2 ton gassers till I bought this and it would be hard to go back. Probably be even harder after I can actually hear the turbo:D

Made the switch back to a gasser myself a few months ago and still struggling with it. That exhaust work and a tune will wake it up in a big way. Enjoy the power and mileage.

Hey, what'd cha git from etrailer???

I have a 2012 duramax that this spring I did the delete to. Used EFI Live tow/mileage program. No more def poor quality messages or exhaust filter plugged message. Have definitely noticed better fuel mileage. Power is hard to tell, supposedly another 60 HP but that at 4500 RPM and I don't normally crank it that hard. Only smoke I get is low RPM under heavy load. Good luck getting it finished up.

Nice. The power and torque is the reason for those diesels. I want one but the problems with new ones...the fact that many of the 15 year old or less ones ear injectors...the new ones with all the dpf and egr crap...? But that mileage you quoted is great and the after mileage even better and the fact if you hook 8000 pounds plus to it it will still get decent gas mileage compared to the gas sets that are down around 6-9 mpg at that point

About 95% of our problems are emissions related, and I suppose it's the same with light duty trucks. Hope it stays dependable for you.

Most of the rest of our issues are automated transmissions :picard: I could go on all day about that subject.

Do you have to reflash the computer or is there a cheater part that plugs in where the old sensors are?
