We have a good supply........don't expect any shortages....but you never know how hard a winter Mother Nature will throw at us...but I feel we are better prepared than most....
You said that already and it doesn't make much sense. If the mill is down, No product will be shipped. So basically(In other words), Your using another unknown(to us) mill to fill the Platinum bags? Gotta read between the lines, When a straight answer isn't given.
You companies release mentioned another mill filling the need if so required. Do you have any test results to share from the other mill? Cut and paste from the release: OPC is covering its wood pellet delivery obligations through a combination of existing inventory and additional product acquisition via Viridis Merchants Inc. (VMI).
You should be fine ,Okie has a reputation to maintain ,I don't think that they would re bag with a chit product
Jay....why are you beating an old horse?....I have covered this several times....and we have put out a press release on it. We have production from other sources, which in this case for the Platinum's is from the mill beside us, with same fibre source...with about the same spec as written on the bag....so again.....we will have plenty of supply. We have sold almost 15,000 tons of this into the market place since we first put out our press release on this last year and the market seems to like it just fine....Our mill in Kelowna is down to make improvements for safety, dust control and increasing the volume. With current inventory levels at the mill, what we have in transit and at Upton, I feel we will be able to service our current customers without disruption thru the season....ihatepropane cut and pasted a statement from the press release above that basically states the same thing I just said.
Doug if you would have said this in the first place ,no one would be busting your balls , Nothing for nothing ,but you always seem like you're trying to hide something from us We as a group IMO are the most informed pellet consumers out there all we want is the best product we can find at a price we can afford ,nothing more nothing less
You may have, But I don't think I saw it or much detail on the other mill you are planning to use. You state the same fiber, But can you also state the end product is so close we will never notice? Or are we gonna have to guess and hope the product we buy is from the mill in Kelowna. If I'm gonna plug the Platinums, I don't want my friends complaining like when I sent them to your golds(because Platinums were MIA) and Now I have a few less friends!! Pretty sure they are looking at the Platinums. But if we have to guess? I'll send them to another well know product there is no guess work needed with!! Just sayin! Were you ever a used car salesmen?? I think you'd make a killin!!
Listen....I'm not going to spend time addressing every issue this group has with how good or how bad you think my pellets are....they are what they are...for everyone that doesn't like a certain brand, I can give you hundreds who think they are wonderful...so for the same reason Baskin Robbins has 31 different flavors, we have 3, so the consumer has a choice and its not just vanilla. I'm here to learn and listen about our pellets and others, not learn about beer or boats or whatever.....have nothing against beer or boats, happen to enjoy that as well....but that isn't what I am here for. I'm not trying to hide anything from anybody...whether you believe that or not is up to you, but there are certain things that I will not disclose ....not just because it probably has no real bearing on anything, it was probably asked more out of pure curiosity than need to know and second, I would have to think my competitors read this as well and quite frankly, I don't want them to know certain things.....or a least make it a tad, more difficult to find out what we are doing sometimes. This is my 7th year selling pellets in this market (NE) and I would have to agree that it is a very informed group....but lets be honest, most of you are not my retail customers, as most of this group wants high end and low price...low price being the priority....and that isn't what we sell. Not saying all of you ....but most of you if you are being honest. I sell pellets.....I sell a lot of pellets, not as many as some, but more than others....I sell good pellets and my pellets are mostly at the high end of the market. ...be it quality and/or price....again, you may disagree with that When you are usually at the high end of things, its easy for people to take shots at you .....I would imagine that if I did sell used cars, I would sell a lot of those too....but they would Lexus, Mercedes or BMW, nothing wrong with a Honda, Chevy or Ford (ok maybe a Ford there is), but not what I would choose to sell...but that is maybe just me..... After selling as many truckloads of our pellets to as many clients as I have over 7 years now, you do learn a thing or two and the first rule you usually learn is that there is no such thing as a perfect pellet....my Douglas Fir pellets may be close, but then for some the price in their humble opinion is way to high....so that eliminates them.....for other pellets that have a much lower price, they work just fine, yet others wouldn't use them for ice melt......but what we have tried and I believe done a good job at is build a reputation with our Okanagan brand, that most people like and have come to trust as a good ...certainly better than average pellet and our sales would back that up. I have learned 2 things for certain in this business.... 1. is consistant quality. 2. consistant supply.....those are the most important factors for the vast majority of dealers we do business with. Price is about 4th or 5th on the list....sure there are people that phone shop all day till they find what they believe is the best price, regardless of brand each year and yes there are people who will pull out the BTU calculator to see if heating oil this afternoon is cheaper than pellets or electricity or whatever....but those are the exceptions...maybe if oil goes another $.25 or $.50 cheaper there might be more, but I can't control that. What I can control and have learned this the hard way is putting out a fair competitive product that people will buy over and over, year after year and that dealers can trust we will stand behind ... we have millions invested, so we plan on being here for the long haul, so we better be doing something right. Jay, I'm sorry you had friends that may not have liked my Gold pellets as much as others....but somebody must like them....we will deliver to our dealer network 1,000's and 1000's of tons of them this year...many in your backyard in NE CT....same with the Okanagan Douglas Fir....considered by many to be the single best pellet available in the North East....even at a price that can push $400 retail per ton in places.....selling them is a pleasure and I'm very proud to do so....its humbling to hear all the good things people say about them and to see multiple truck orders for them, from dealers who thought they might sell just a few pallets of them just a couple of years ago. If you want to pump, LaCrete or Cubex or Barefoot....those are good pellets as well ...whatever floats your boat....its a very large market out there and plenty of room for those that put out a good product at a fair price......but what you think is good and fair may not be the same for someone else, which is why we like choices.
Doug, I wasn't looking for the famous crabby patty or your grams grams oatmeal cookies recipe. All I was asking was the quality comparable. Not lab results or which mill ect. A general number you might put on the bag tis all. And you post that? Thats fine, I wan't be pluggin any Okies this or any other season if I can't get a straight honest answer from you. I'm sure you'll sell you fair market share. Well maybe not as oil being so low. Nice speech though, I'm sure some might buy into that.
damm Jay....bad day at work?..........Do you really think I would put junk in our bag?.....of course it is quality comparable....you know better than to ask a question like that...go fight with someone else, I'm not interested in playing that game.
"high end and low price...low price being the priority....and that isn't what we sell. Not saying all of you ....but most of you if you are being honest" But I only bought Blazers this year, probably never would have guessed that would you
