Been busy with work and have stayed away from the woods this past month. A number of things including the weather was not aligning with my schedule, the hippie caravan in the forest, and work just plain got in the way. Anyway I'm beat. In the last 24 hours I've cut like a mad man. I've now run out of gas and bar oil. It was fun though!
Nice load of logs there, Joe! Now put up one of those pop up canopies and you can split under the hot sun or in the rainy weather!
I found some more gas at the local gas station. I bet there's one near you too. I think TSC has B&C oil.
I would have cut another load tonight but it was already 6pm when I got done. Started at 11am. I only use the stihl bar oil (just my personal preference), one place has it and they close at 5. They're also a half hour drive away. I'll be down there tomorrow morning though!!! Have to get gas there too. Everything in my area has ethanol. REC90 is available in Traverse City. It's all I use in small engines anymore.
Eric, I like the way you think. A pop up solves many problems as I have used one for the last 10 years or so. I hate the sun directly on me when it is hot. Sometimes you have to walk a crooked line to get where you need to go as long as you get there is all that matters.
I split in the middle of that pile, there's white pines all around it. It's in the shade and still gets a nice breeze. Found a nice maple this morning!
Joe, one of the best parts of cutting wood the size you are cutting is that it piles up quickly. One can see the results quickly from the work he does.
