fried okra done right!

    Who else makes fried okra the right way. I like the pre breaded stuff just fine, but this is how momma makes it. 20150811_175253.jpg 20150811_180622.jpg 20150811_180928.jpg Once you've had it this way, it's hard to go back.

    Not something we grow or see a lot of up here but i know there are people that do. Ive had it pickled, but never fried. that looks amazing.

    mmmmm.....:drool:.... My Okra is just coming on, I got my first bag froze.... Recipe please....:yes:.... I double dip mine...Flour/cornmeal mix then egg then flour/corn meal mix and seasoning. I sell my Okra till the late season and save a bit for me. Thanks for posting this...:handshake:

    Wow! I love okra. We've been eating it fresh lately and pickling the the big woody ones. Do please share your fried recipe.

    I only use flour. It almost works better if you freeze then thaw it. It gets slimey and the flour sticks better. Frozen okra from store work just fine. I like it with cornmeal, but like it better without. It's a very thin crust. Season with salt. Black pepper is good too.

    You can also coat it with olive oil and convection bake it @400° with no flour. It's pretty good too.

    I just baste them down with olive oil and the put McCormicks steak seasoning on it.

    I just toss them in a bag and marinate in some italian dressing for a couple hours then toss them on the grill.
