Who else makes fried okra the right way. I like the pre breaded stuff just fine, but this is how momma makes it. Once you've had it this way, it's hard to go back.
Not something we grow or see a lot of up here but i know there are people that do. Ive had it pickled, but never fried. that looks amazing.
mmmmm......... My Okra is just coming on, I got my first bag froze.... Recipe please........ I double dip mine...Flour/cornmeal mix then egg then flour/corn meal mix and seasoning. I sell my Okra till the late season and save a bit for me. Thanks for posting this...
Wow! I love okra. We've been eating it fresh lately and pickling the the big woody ones. Do please share your fried recipe.
I only use flour. It almost works better if you freeze then thaw it. It gets slimey and the flour sticks better. Frozen okra from store work just fine. I like it with cornmeal, but like it better without. It's a very thin crust. Season with salt. Black pepper is good too. You can also coat it with olive oil and convection bake it @400° with no flour. It's pretty good too.
I just toss them in a bag and marinate in some italian dressing for a couple hours then toss them on the grill.
