Well, I went for the softies and grabbed a couple tons of Blazers

I took the day off and got up to Uxbridge to check out that operation. They railed in box cars of Blazers. Some of the shipment got tossed around on the train and they repacked some of those tons. I bought one and brought it home to stack and review. Just a couple of bags with small rips that packing tape took care of and two damaged bags that we both a little over half filled. So say 49 1/2 bags for $289. Raced back and grabbed a second ton. That one was very close to perfect. First time buying a brand I have not tried in my Castille, but the reviews were strong and "I'm feelin' lucky.."
Talked to the owner who confirmed that his stock is flying out the door and there will again be a tight supply beyond October. His "yard" was very impressive, but it is easy to imagine very little there in six weeks. As I posted earlier, I would rather be holding good stuff than be queued up for "trash and ash."
Oh, I'm not done.... sure feels good having 6 tons again.

I think you will like those Blazers. They burn pretty good in my stove. I have to chuckle every time I hear the distributors and stores claim their sales are up a gazillion percent this year, and it's going to be another tough year for buying pellets when the fall comes. Call me crazy, but HHO being down to 2005 prices, and pellet prices being through the roof, might have *some* impact on slowing sales a little tiny bit? I mean, not for pigs like us of course, but surely for normal pellet burners?

 

These were repacked on pallets due to some poor handling during transport via rail. No complaints and really got small damage that was fixed with some packing tape. I think their regular August price was $309/ton, cash and carry.

 

I think folks will tank up with the soft HHO prices but that could change once the cold weather gouging takes place. I would hedge the bet and have both, if I could. Seems a lot of pellets are going to the oil and gas fields for clean up duty...big demand. So if this is a ready market and they are getting their price, the consumer is in for a squeeze. Demand in the Euro zone continues to be strong.

You make some good points ,if consumer demand is down they'll sell them some where else ,it's all about moving product and making $$$

 

I couldn't agree more with you TT. I am definitely NOT buying the buy now or else calls.

 

I'm with you guys on this , I've never seen soooo many pellets around so early in the season here in NE PA and Dino juice being cheap even if there was a shortage of pellets those folks won't care ,just turn up the Stat.

 

My local HD had 100+ tons of chow, NEVER have seen that in all my years. If the pile gets bigger, or they don't move, will be interesting. Most stores have a zero carryover policy, known as turn or burn.

 

Same thing here ,and my little TSC had close to 150 tons .

That's a very viable option, IMO. I've thought of doing it. I figure I can squeeze 10 tons in my basement. If I ever have more than that,

 

Augmister, you'll really like the Blazers. I was amazed at the lack of ash. Even better than LaCretes, if you've ever burned them

 

Most likely those are horse bedding/industrial grade, not the ones we use to heat with.

Glad to read about your recent buy up in Uxbridge. I too have gone "Soft" for the 2015-2016 season. Loved the Sets so much I burned through 5 tons last winter.... Look forward to hearing about your experience with Blazers! Lets compare notes them and Okie DF and Okie Platinum. Have a good weekend.

 

The Blazers and Okie DF should both be better than the Platinums. Look forward to hearing the thoughts on the Okie DF. I have not burned them myself.
