    I have no intention of ever cutting a huge burr oak in my wood lot. I know I put steps into it for a deer stand, and lag screws to hold up the stand itself. No way do I ever want to find a 6 inch x 1/2 inch lag screw with an axe or a chain. If I ever drop that tree I will be using a metal detector because those lag bolts are no longer to be seen.

    Wish I had a pic but about 30 years ago the guy I worked for had to cut a farmall narrow front M International Harvester out of a tree that grew between the block and around the frame. He eventually restored it and I drove it.

    I just hit the jackpot, 2 big spikes and a hook (which i will reuse ) all in one spot, i found them while splitting ,i was lucky i didn't find them with the saw, i cut about 4'' away IMG_3564.JPG IMG_3565.JPG

    .......CONCRETE, A PENNY (YES A PENNY), AND EVEN A VICTOR SPRING TRAP....

    I usually am able to find a lot of old fence, pole barn nails, lag bolts, bullets, etc...

    We cut a big round that had a guide wire/cable in it, ended up splitting it out with the splitter. Most of the time some bugs.

    Dug 10 of these out of a round yesterday, copper plated. Kept my 12 yr old busy for a while digging them out. Also found wire and nails, unfortunately not before the chain found them.
